Finally a Review that covers call Quality.

I try to tell people. IT'S A PHONE! YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO MAKE PHONE CALLS ON IT! Alas, no one listens. I listen, though. Call quality is paramount to me. That's one of the reasons why I returned my Dinc. I'm greatly looking forward to the X as everyone says the call quality is tremendous. I'm in. :)

Is it completely sad that the one thing I try to avoid doing at all costs is actually having to talk on my phone?

100%...I'm all for evolution, but IMO if a phone can't handle making clear telephone calls its useless to me. It can have the fastest processor, with the best camera, but all that is secondary to making calls. My Incredible is terrible when it comes to making calls, thankfully it looks like the x will come through in that department.

Also, it seems the "X" was a bit laggy or not as smooth as far as the scrolling went...

I didn't notice any lag when I played with one the other day. Could be that he just had several memory intensive apps open. I guess we'll find out soon enough! The live wallpaper and widgets probably weren't helping either.

That loud music one was almost too good to be true!

How can you compare on two different networks?? More a test of networks than the phone.

Besides, considering the iPhone series sucked for call quality and reception (unless in mid to strong signal areas), the comparison with iPhone is not the best (especially not the new one). The signal of the X is no better or worse than the Inc, which is not as good as the original Droid. Original Droid is still the signal king. I did not test the call quality, but the mic set-up should make X rock :)

Compare the old Droid to the X and Inc. All three are on the same carrier. Wow. That is a pretty darn good set of phones: Droid, Inc and X.

verdeg,

I agree. The X was just as fast as the Inc. No difference.

I thought this noise cancellation test from pocketnow was interesting too, especially the bit when he says he's playing loud music in the background:

YouTube - Droid X Noise Cancellation Test

WOW! That sounds really bad. Garbled, muffled, cutting in and out. Sounds like it's suffering from the same problem as the original Droid. Anyone else think this voice quality sounds absolutely horrible?

Totally agree!! And also why I returned my Dinc. Now if we could just get the phone manufacturers and carriers to design a great phone section first.... But that doesn't seem to sell phones these days. At least maybe Motorola is paying attention. Also trying to use a touch screen with the device perched out on the end of my fingers is no fun either so I am hoping that with the X I won't need to do that quite so much.

U serious? Do u know how noise cancellation works? That clip proved how good it was. Especially the music part.

76 pages is also cuz the phone has been out since Nov 2009. lol I had a theory about that that no one really mentioned. The screen lock, keypad lock isnt that good on the Droid. Anytime a app fixes the call issues it had says something. Screen Suite fixes the call muffling. Anything else wrong, I think it got fixed on phones manufactured this year.
