Best Buy's 1yr price is....

1 year BB price- $399
full price BB- $699
VZW 1 year- $279 (w/MIR)
VZW full price- $569 (with MIR)

How can Best Buy rip people off like this?

I disagree... they aren't ripping anyone off. They have the right to set their own pricing. It's my belief that they, at a corporate level, prefer selling 2 year contracts over anything else.

If you or I don't want to pay it then we can easily go elsewhere to purchase the phone. Anyway, for all any of us knows, VZW might have a caveat in their contract with BB to set minimum prices for different levels of service.

They should keep their employees on a tighter leash then to avoid bad info like I got when i put down my deposit. The BB Mobile girl said "we'll be the same MSRP as Verizon or cheaper...we always have the cheapest price." LMAO. I'm really not surprised and expected this. I always planned on waiting in front of VZW in the morning at launch.

While I don't disagree with you it doesn't sound much different than what many of us hear when house or car shopping. Sadly in some industries I think we need to heed that old latin saying, "Caveat emptor"... let the buyer beware.

We do normally have the cheapest price. If we don't, then we will price match it, as long as there is no mail in rebate involved.

Verizon and the other carriers can set the prices at their stores however they want, because they have less of a loss.

Essentially, the way the trend is, is generally people don't buy phones at full retail or with a 1 year contract. Best Buy knows this and instead chooses to lower the 2 year price on phones instead. That's why our 2 year pricing is better.

Not to say they should charge more for 1 year or retail, but I would speak with your pocketbook, if they are going to charge more and not match the pricing, then tell them that and go to Verizon. In the end, the customers do have the power :)

Does anyone have a conclusion of what it will actually cost?? like for sure prices??

What do you mean...I work for Best Buy so I know this price is right lol.

Best Buy does not sell 1yr plans on a regular basis. We only do them if the customer brings it up. Best Buy WILL match though, so why all the crying and complaining about the price being more lol. Oh and there is no MIR. Price match plus not waiting for your money back, win win

I agree with you. If I don't lock one down at Verizon I'll go over to BB and fight hard to have them match VZW's price. When i called today the rep tried to tell me they only do 2 year contracts even though the BB rep who took my deposit said they would do a 1 year contract or sell at full price. Classic example of "left hand doesn't know what the right is doing".

Will best buy match the online price of verizon ? I.e, I go to the store to pick up the phone; they tell me the price is something other than $269. I point to the verizon on line web page which list $269 no mail in rebate. Will they match that ?

From what Aookay said BB will match a price if there is an actual ad you can bring in or if there is time to call and VZW has some in stock at the moment, they'll match it. Here's the problem: 1) VZW does an actual ad like once a year during X-mas shopping season so that's not gonna happen 2) If Droid X's sell out fast then by the time you get to Best Buy they won't match the price because the phone will no longer be in stock at VZW. 3)Most Best Buy employees mentioned on the forum so far with the exception of Aookay and screenamesuck are clueless or stubborn and don't even want to do anything besides say "we can only do a 2 year contract for $199".

No, if they do it will be a special exception, but it's not in our price match policy:

"If you find a lower advertised price on the same available brand and model prior to your purchase or during the exchange and return period, we will match that price. Simply bring in the ad of the local retail competitor or Best Buy, while the lower price is in effect and receive your price match.

The guarantee does not apply to our competitors' website pricing and the guarantee does not apply to our or our competitors':"
