I was on my second Eris and still having problems. I have been experiencing all of the same issues that other users on this forum have noted. I went into my local verizon store today to try replacing the battery - again - hoping this would make my phone work correctly and the assistant manager allowed me to trade my Eris for another phone. She gave me the choice between the Motorola Droid and the LG Ally.
After spending a good bit of time playing with both phones, I chose the Motorola Droid. I wanted to go with a phone that had been out for a while and that had pretty much good reviews across the board. I was very skeptical to try a new phone after the issues I had with the Eris.
After just a few hours of playing with and operating this phone, I have to say I LOVE it! I now have 3-4 bars of power - I had 0 to 1 bar on a regular basis with my Eris - and the Motorola Droid is FAST. It is a bit large and "bulky" feeling, but no more so than my daughers Itouch. The graphics are fantastic as is the camera..which has a flash!
I feel like I have everything I want since this is still a droid operating system and Motorola has added some nice touches to this phone. I do think HTC makes great phones, I just did not have a good experience with my Eris.
Good Luck to anyone trying to switch their Eris for another phone....and congratulations to everyone with Eris phones that have always worked.
