Goodbye Nexus One

After only a few short months I have to say goodbye to my N1. Today I spoke to 3 CSR (At&t), 3 Tech support guys (At&t), 2 Google Tech support guys, 1 HTC CSR, one trip to an At&t store for a new sim chip and no one could solve my missing MMS issue. After various restores, changing of settings, and confirmation that the network and my account is working correctly no one could answer why I can not receive a picture MMS.

What I found interesting is that when you call the tech number provide for the N1 you actually get Google Techs. I believe this because they announce themselves as such and when it finally came to nothing working they had to transfer me to HTC. These guys were nothing short of awesome. While attempting to fix the phone these guys BS'ed about the N1 about Android and about various apps. I spent a total of 2 hours on the phone with these guys and it was really a pleasure, so if you ever have an issue don't hesitate to give them a call.

The good news is that they are sending me a replacement. I had the option to send mine in for repair or they would give a new one that would be sent to me. Since I can't live without the phone I decided on the lather. I am not always the biggest fan of this since you never know what you are going to get but like I said I don't like not having my phone. I really do hope this solves my problem. I am going to be very annoyed if in the end it was an issue with At&t.

I had issues with MMS for about the first 5 months of having the phone. Tried all sorts of different settings and different APNs (Network 3 in UK) but nothing would work. In the end I just gave up, but then randomly about 3 weeks ago, somebody sent one and it worked. No idea why, it just worked, and now I don't have a problem with them.

I don't, that's why I just gave up trying to get it to work. If I need someone to see something that badly, I just email it to them or stick it on facebook.

That is bizarre, the google guys tried setting up a new APN on the phone and it didn't work either. Both of them still think there might be an issue with the network but since At&t said everything was correct on their end and I tried a new Sim card the next best thing was to see if it is hardware related. Out of the 6 people at At&t only 2 knew about the N1, the rest were a bit confused about me running a phone that didn't come directly from them.

MartinS-I don't like when things don't work when they should. While it may not be the #1 most used feature on my phone I still would like it to work.

I know in the past, if you werent getting MMS you had to take a picture of something(or use a picture you had stored) and send it to yourself a couple times. That usually set it up on your phone.

Go try that and see if it works.

Mostly Harmless! That is the most misleading title here! I thought you were getting rid of your Nexus One FOREVER and (almost) got sad that another regular N1 forumnite is leaving!

Well I hope your replacement N1 doesn't have this flaw or any other for that matters!

My bad with the title! Definitely mis-leading. Besides the MMS issue my N1 works great, I just hope the replacment is as good if not better.

But if anything I learned that Googles Support is top notch and makes this phone even better. I am just glad I didn't root my phone early on, one of the first questions I was asked when it came time to warrenty the phone is if it was rooted.

Also interesting enough, when I took the sim chip and put it into my old Sony Ericson phone I could receive an MMS, which lead me to believe it is a phone issue.

I also had you in mind when I was speaking to the google tech, I asked him about screen burn in and he told me that so far there didn't seem to be a big issue with it (this came up when we were talking about google navigation and how I would love to see the notification bar dissappear), as in there hasn't been a high warrenty rate regarding the screen. But considering the amount of N1's that doesn't surprise me too much.

Hey everybody, I'm brand new to the site, just got my N1 last Friday and I spent the weekend messing about with my phone (I'm on Bell Mobility in Ontario, Canada) and I also ran into a similar problem.

First I couldn't connect to Bell's 3G network and then I couldn't send/receive mms messages. It turns out that with Bell's network two separate (but mostly identical) APNs are required to do both. One is pda.bell.ca and the other is pda2.bell.ca

HTC sent out my replacement this morning and it should be here tomorrow waiting for me when I get home from work. If the MMS still doesn't work then I know for sure it is At&t (which would make the google techs right) and then complain to them until it is resolved.

Well I got my replacement and no good, MMS still doesn't work. It looks like I am going to have to speak to both At&t and Google again, all though I am not sure which one I am going to talk to first. The new one is a thing of beauty.

Question for you, did you port over to AT&T before you got your Nexus or were you on AT&T already?

Hmm, Im trying to figure stuff out for you. And you tried sending yourself pics right? I dont mean from friends phones, I meant directly from your phone to your phone. Send a couple and that usually sets it up.

Yes I have, I will try it again though with the new phone. I also tried putting the sim card in my old Sony Ericsson phone and the MMS's worked, then I put it back into my N1 and they didn't work.
