My store near me didnt tell me yesterday when I called how many they were getting and they mentioned again no pre-orders. I visited the store on Sunday and they said no pre-orders as well. Things may have changed but I havent been able to visit the store and probably wont be able too until tomorrow evening to verify for sure if I can make an appointment. In about a 1/2 mile distance I have a Verizon corp store, Verizon Kiosk at a bjs, and a best buy. The verizon corp store opens at 10am, the bjs kiosk at 9am, and the best buy I'm not sure. For some reason I've been planning on hitting the verizon corp store first extra early and kind of camp out, what are the chances of the store saying they already have the droid x's accounted for and have no more? That early? I mean I have 2 other spots to hit but yea never did a first day launch for a device.

Just keep trying and don't give up my friend. That's what I had to do when I purchased my Incredible, but I eventually got lucky at the end of the day and found the last one they had in stock at Best Buy. So if one store is sold out, try the next and just keep on keepin' on.

Purchased @ 6pm later the same day after trying 12 different VZWs and Best Buys. If it's meant to be, it will be.

This is exactly what was worrying me, and I think the Droid X is just a tad more popular and in demand than the dinc was. I'm going to have to set up a tent.

Thats what I'm thinking as well and I'm not sure why that corp store opens so late, but they told me they werent opening early at all on the 15th when I called yesterday. I'm going to pass by tomorrow regardless.

I really don't see you having a problem having this phone in your hands Thursday whatsoever. There's not gonna be as much of a shortage problem with the X like there was with the Dinc. So if one store don't have it, go to the next. I guarantee you will find one. I pre-ordered mine this time just for ease of mind. lol

I have succumbed to the fact that I am ordering online the minute I find it available online. Even if it means I don't get it until next week some time. Tired of fooling with the Corp stores here and them not selling at full retail. I really don't want to run from bb to bb. So online is what I will be doing. Been staying up late last several nights incase it came to that anyhow.

Theoretically you could also have the folks at the VZW corporate store go onto their computer system and look at the inventory of the other VZW stores in the area. I'm pretty sure they can see stock levels of other stores. I was in a VZW store tonight looking for accessories. The rep started checking stock levels to find out who had car docks when their manager emerged from the vault with a sealed box full of car docks. Me thinks they probably should have checked their inventory levels! LOL
