Today was disappointing. :(

Forget about Foryo, I got an OTA for Chocolate Mousse today!!!!!!!!!! :D :p

But seriously, is it really that disappointing? I mean, the earth is still turning, you're still breathing (I think I am too, but who knows), and you still have one of the most popular Android phones on the market. When Froyo is ready it will come and getting disappointed because we didn't get it today isn't going to make the OTA come any quicker. In fact, the more you think about it, the longer it will take.

I was extremely happy with my Droid when I bought it with 2.0.1. Then I just happened to get 2.1 and I am even happier now. However, if I had never gotten 2.1, I would still be extremely happy with my Droid.

I too am anticipating the changes to come, but I can't say I'm disappointed it didn't come today. Besides, if you think about what happened with 2.1, you can't really expect it to come when it is rumored (or announced for that matter), can you?

I don't know, maybe I'm just too cynical, but hey what can I say? :D

As I was rooted long before 2.1 was announced, I ran many of the 2.1 ROMs while everyone that wasn't rooted was waiting in anticipation for it. I thought it was funny cause I knew that 2.1 wasn't going to be a big update and people were going crazy for it like it was going to be the second coming of Christ!

I don't feel the same about the 2.2 update. I am excited for all the non-rooters to have it cause it is a really big update IMO. There have been several leaks and they have added noticeable tweaks with each leak so I'm sure the end result will be worth the wait. I just hope your wait isn't too much longer! ;)

Plus when we ALL have Froyo...I'm one step closer to Gingerbread!

ROTF - I remember those days well, my friend. While the improvements and enhancements were not all that spectacular, I think for me what made it unique was the OCing that I came to know and love.

but 2.2 is definitely a game changer. I had a buddy of mine update his Hero from Donut to Eclair - and he loves it. If that phone also gets FroYo he is be in heaven...

And I will probably stay rooted and OC FroYo again even after the official release....

Unrooting...never an option for me! :D Just the white notification panel is enough reason to stay rooted LOL! I do hope Moto includes a 800MHz kernel with 2.2! There isn't a feasible reason why they shouldn't. I've never heard that someone rooted could NOT run completely stable with a 1.0 GHz kernel...so 800MHz should be a no brainer especially with the battery life I'm seeing on the latest leaks (and ROMs built from source). And that incredible battery life I'm seeing is at 1.1GHz.

If anyone is feeling bad about not getting Froyo...just think...this could be you instead! :D

Am I correct that we need 2.2 in order to operate the much anticipated Flash 10.1?

If so, the only thing we can count on is that 2.2 will be released sometime this summer. Verizon is advertising Flash will be available for DROID "Late Summer".

So in other words, Verizon technically has until September 21, 2010 to get the Froyo OTA pushed. September 22, 2010 is the first official day of Autumn so technically all date up to and including September 21, 2010 would be considered late summer.

That means we could possibly have more than two months to wait for the Froyo OTA. I'm not gonna get my panties all in a bunch when I/we don't get the OTA on all those rumored, but not official, release dates.

Heck, I just read in another thread in this forum that now the release date is for 07/16/2010. I don't believe it one bit. In fact, I won't believe it until I actually receive the update or this thread: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/90379-receive-email-notification-when-2-2-released.html is updated.

okay guys im new on here and learning alot thanks to all you. now what is the diff between root and non rooted

Non-Root is stock, ie: what you would get when you buy the phone from Verizon. Root is what you do to unlock the phone (jailbreak if you want to look at it like that) and gain access to the files that, if used incorrectly, could make or break your phone.

Check out this thread to gain more info about Root: All Things Root (Droid) - Android Forums
