Handcent / stock message app conflicts/problems.

U.K.
Hi,
I'm using handcent and have disabled the message notifications in the stock messaging application but what i still get is a pop-up message window from the stock app showing the message and i can reply in that app if i wish, however, handcent widget will still show one unread sms message and i would have to go read the message via handcent to get rid of the new sms icon etc.

Of course I could ignore the stock app's pop-up window and close it, go to hancent and read / reply that way but what i want is just visual and audible notifications from hancent. I don't want the stock messaging app to do anything at all.

Is there a solution to this please?

(T-mobile G2 on Version 1.5)

An actual pop up window or a notification? Because I don't think the default SMS app has the option to show pop up windows.

You're not using the SMS-Popup app or any other 3rd party app like that are you?

Thanks for your reply,
No, I have no sms pop-up app, just hancent for sms messages.

When i get a new sms, a window opens over my home screen which displays the text of the message and has a quick reply text box below it.
(After replying this way i get a quick flash of a message telling me the quick reply has been sent).

I am assuming this is from the stock SMS app because it does'nt look like the handcent sms conversations does, (with the speech bubbles etc) and coupled with the fact that the handcent widget is showing 1 unread message, i assume handcent has not been able to recognise that i have read the text message. Only if I open hancent and read the message there does the new sms icon on the widget disapear.

Is it me being thick or something?

That sounds like handcent's popup. I think there's an option in the settings that will make using the popup mark the message as read.

Edit: Yeah in Settings, notification settings, popup settings, mark as read.

Yeah, you got it, i figured it was hancents pop-up after my last reply.
There is one thing i notice though, in the settings you suggested, which were already set, if i just close the pop up, the handcent widget recognises i have read the text, but if i quick reply via the pop up, the widget still tells me i have one to read.
Must be a handcent glitch.

Cheers for your help anyway.:)
