A few noobish questions

I've been with Apple for the last two years, so I'm sorry if these questions are relatively simple.

1. Will rooting let me get rid of any bloatware? Or touchwiz?

2. I hear that rooting on this isn't "true" rooting. What does this mean, will it eventualy be "true", and what apps will this prevent me from running

you can use a few different Launcher apps instead of touchwiz that let you really customize the look of the phone. Just google Launcher Pro Beta, its really cool.

To get rid of the AT&T bloatware you're gonna need some real smart hacker to figure it all out first, but at the same time, you can just leave it in the app drawer and try to ignore it

1. Rooting the phone will allow you to install stock android roms, sense roms, etc. Touchwiz is easily removable.

2. I haven't heard anything about this, but I can't imagine this would be the case.

You can rearrange the app list so that the AT&T apps are on the last page of the list and out of your way. I believe rooting allows you to delete apps you normally can't, though there's a bit of hackery involved. I don't know specifically about AT&T apps though.

For me, I'll probably root it, but stay away from the custom ROMs for a few weeks. The root method that's out there seems to be easily covered up in case I need the warranty. Once a stock ROM is published so I could go back to stock if warranty was needed, I may try some ROMs.

I'll probably go that direction as well. Initially I'll install TPB, though I'm not sure that the Touchwiz UI is all that bad. I just prefer the speed and efficiency that TPB gives a user. As for rooting, yup I plan on it. Can you imagine just how fast this thing will be with a stock Google experience or Froyo? Given that it has the VR540 graphics processor versus the Droid X's VR530, the graphics performance should be top notch and coupled with the gyroscope, games should be pretty fun. When Android catches up, that is. Given that Motorola officially announced it has locked and encrypted the boot loader (just read this morning), the Captivate is looking better and better. I'm just wanting to get a Captivate in-hand to see what it feels like.
