Can someone confirm or deny this. According to other forums, the phone will be locked with Bing, instead of Google. WTF, is this true? Who the hell wants to run crappy Bing, this is an Android phone for heavens sake not a Windows Mobile phone. Some readers are saying a root might be necessary to put Google on it. Is this all galaxy phones or just the Verizon version, please tell me t-mobiles version will have google on it.

I'm not a full on phone expert, so can someone clarify please. I will not be rooting my phone, so this might be a problem for me. No way in hell do I want microsoft shit on my phone.

Where did you read this? I have not come across this yet. I know Vibrant has Google Maps for free directions.

Just bing, woops I meant, just google "samsung galaxy bing" and it comes up. Also go into the Samsung Fascinate forum, people are saying only way to put on google on it may be to root the phone.

I was checking out the fascinate because it comes with a flash, so I was considering switching to verizon to get the flash version of the galaxy phone, but I DONT WANT MICROSOFT CRAP.

I hope this is only verizons version and not all galaxy phones.

there's your problem. Verizon wanted Bing on their phone, only the Verizon model will have Bing. I can confirm that every other version will have straight Google

Hey, part of the advantage of an open platform is that the various manufacturers/providers can create many variations on the core system, tweaking them for business reasons to meet the interests/needs of various kinds of users.

As a result, I have no objection to them thinking I might want Bing (or something else) as my provider rather than Google (hey, someday I might actually want something other than Google, and thankfully I'll have a platform that is robust to that change).

What I DO have an objection to is my choices being locked down. Include what you want as a default, but let me uninstall and replace with what I prefer.

I have no idea what the various Galaxy S devices have by default and/or how easy it would be to change them, so don't read it as a specific critique, just as a broad comment to add to the conversation.

I just got a Vibrant today & there is no trace of Bing on it. That's almost a shame. Bing maps is really nice. I only miss that and the Redbox app from when I was using an iPhone.

there is a redbox app, and i believe MS just announced they will be bringing a full featured bing app to the android market shortly
