Passion to be a physically LARGE phone.

So I purchased the Eris a few days ago and yesterday I hear of the HTC Passion with its "bleeding edge" specs and all the features of the Eris including Sense UI. Immediately I was very concerned I made the wrong choice until I found out how LARGE the Passion will be.....

With a 4.2/4.3 inch screen the Passion is going to be one LARGE phone. After finding this out I was relieved that I made the right choice with the Eris and its ultra-compact and pocketable design.

"Bleeding Edge" is one thing but I dont want to carry around a brick in my pocket, its the major reason I didnt get Moto Droid....just my opinion.... :)

There are several sizes for screens that HTC uses. The HD2 is 4.3", which i'm sure is what you read about. My understanding is that the passion will use the 3.8" wide screen. That said, even the HD2 is only slightly bigger than an iphone. I would prefer the smaller option though myself.

The passion is definitely what I'm waiting for at this point. The rumored pictures of the passion so far, have definitely not looked like the 4.3" screen though. I realize that the 3.8" screens don't have the hardware specs of the HD2, but the screenshots look much more like the 3.8" screen, but clearly it would come with a snapdragon and other hardware improvements, but in that form factor.

HD2 4.3"

HTC Max4G 3.8" screen

HTC Touch HD 3.8"

So you're saying its going to be a LARGE phone? I have only read 3 of your posts stating the same thing, apparently based upon the fact you read the rumored specs of the screen size, but I'm still not sure...

This is the only thread I made a comment about the screen size. Just judging by the leaked images, the Passion does not seem to have a monster screen due to the borders around it. I'm guessing 3.8 inches and nothing over 4 inches.

Sounds like you're trying to comfort yourself that you made the right choice.

I like this article showing the big player banks/firms upping there investment in HTC..I am excited because when the big banks get in on the stock like this it means major secrets behind closed doors(I have been in R&D in Bio medical for a long time and it looks the same, stocks get sold from secrets) in R&D and those secrets will mean tasty phones for us consumers.

Osgood's theorem #7 - large screens = crappy battery life. Any droid owners out there - check your battery information, the screen that tells you what components are using what percent of the battery - the screen is always number 1 and always 50% or more of the energy used.

uh not really...

my usage today...

voice calls 68%
phone idle 12%
cell standby 10%
display 7%
android system 3%

my display has never been more than 20% use for me
