Help Weather Channel app vs. Weather Bug

I used to have the free version of Weather Bug downloaded but recently decided to give the Weather Channel app a try since it has animated radar. Maybe it's just my imagination but ever since I started using the Weather Channel app it seems like my battery doesn't last as long. Does anyone know if it uses more battery juice than Weather Bug? I was going to download Weather Bug again to compare the two but I can't seem to find the free version any more.

I wouldn't suspect Weather Channel, then. I use it over Weatherbug, and I can get about 72 hours of battery life on a full charge. Install Spare Parts if you don't have it and you can get a better look at what's eating up your battery.

In my experience, the biggest battery killer is a weak signal. If I have anything less than full bars, it sucks battery bad.

Thanks but I've got both my location and GPS turned off so I know that can't be why it seems like my battery is dying quicker.

Although you have this set, the weather channel widget has its own independant setting. In order to access it i believe you have to removed the widget and add it back (the long version i think its called) and it gives you the option to set a location or have it automatically locate. I could be wrong but it seems to me i could never verify it wasn't still using gps as the only way to access it is to re-apply the widget which comes with location on by default. I would stick with weather bug if battery life is better.
