Any camera lens issues for those rocking a "naked" EVO?

Hey all,

So, when the EVO initially came out a month ago...there was much concern over scratching the camera lens when setting the phone down (since the lens protrudes from the case).

My question is...now that the dust has settled and the phone has been out for a month...can those who have been brave enough to rock a naked phone comment on whether or not you have had any issues with the camera lens?

Call me superficial...but I hate every phone case I've ever seen. I bought the Sprint silicone case when the phone came out (I was paranoid about dropping the phone or scratching the lens) and have been using it since...but (again, call me superficial) I'm tired of being out at the bar and having friends whip out their sexy new iPhone4, and here I am, with a (IMO) hideous silicone-clad brick of a phone.

Anyway, I'm thinking about ditching the case, but my main concern is mangling the camera lens....any input would be appreciated!

Note: I think the EVO (naked) looks great .. i'm not hating on the asthetics of the phone itself.

I did this before I even saw the video posted on here. I had a skin that happened to have a clear circular cutout. It's been working perfect for me ever since and I never worry about laying my phone down on its back.

Well... I used my phone without a case for about two weeks after I got it. I noticed a line on the camera lens... it looks like a scratch, but when running my fingernail over it I can't get it to catch. I can only assume it is a fine crack.

I use a case now. I have no clue how I got it. I never drop my phone and I always carry it in my hand. Oh well... it hasn't affected picture quality yet.

I'm trying to make my own screen protector for the camera lense using an old pre protector I have. I can't figure out how to cut a perfect circle the right size yet. Any ideas?

There are 2 things you can do.

1) Take a marker (with a flat bottom, but circular diameter), take a sharpie and draw on the old screen protector. Then, cut with an exacto knife, inside the drawn circle.

2) Cut it into a square instead of a circle. When you lay the screen protector onto the lens, the other parts of the screen protector will be under the battery cover anyway.

The important thing is that you cut it big enough to wrap around the entire lens, but small enough that it doesn't overlap on anything underneath the battery cover.

Ed, check your other topic about this. My suggestion there was to cut around the circumference of a sharpie cap using a x-acto knife (hobby knife). A sharpie cap is nearly the perfect diameter for the camera lens.

If you felt like spending some money you could also go with a Martin Fields Screen Protector:

Great quality product. As good as SGP, except it shows a tad more oil. Product costs more, but it will protect the screen and camera.

Same for me. I did not have a case and now I have a fine crack on my camera lens, although it is around the outside and does not cover the functional part of the lens.
