I just went to my local at&t store to know if they would have a captivate on sunday and they told me that they were able to sell me one today. The store rep said they just got an email saying they were able to start selling today but not able to have out on display till Sunday.

Posted from my very own captivate no lie.

I just called my nearest store a call and they didn't pick up :/

I had just put dinner in the oven before reading this post, so I suppose I'll call again in 20 minutes and again after dinner if I need to. Hopefully somebody will be able to confirm this is happening in the meantime. It'd be pretty neat to get it in the next few days so I could tinker around with it over the weekend.

As in, you work for AT&T?

well just so u know they told me i could buy the phone before they knew i was on an employee discount account.

I work for Samsung, but the account im on is with my Moms and she works for ATT. I would have a discount with ATT if i went through my work but it was still cheaper to just stay on my moms line. She gets better discounted phones as well as a discounted data plan 19% off the $25 one so i save like $5.

but again having employee connections had nothing to do with being able to get phone

hm.. need more info before I make the trip to a local store. either way, congrats. post some reviews if u can

edit - isnt the charger head just the mini usb?

ya it is, for some reason it doesnt seem to connect all the way in and it kinda flops out if ur holding it a certain way.

ill mess with it some more

*EDIT
ok im an idiot, turns out the door that covers the mini usb slot didnt slide all the way open, kinda have to force it a lil more to open it all the way. charge now fits like a glove

Narp. No MIR req'd.

No Captivate for you, Jofaba. You made your Aria bed, now lie in it! ;)

lol it's a great phone (the Aria) but I've been watching some reviews and hands on tonight and am getting re-interested. I hope that I go check it out this weekend and am underwhelmed.

It'll cost me another hundred bucks (including the restock fee) and I'm deathly afraid of breaking the larger screen but the camera is starting to impress me, and the look of it is starting to grow on me. Also, I downloaded a few games that had the controls on the screen and it really got in the way of the game itself. And the screen is really looking great in the high def video reviews I've seen.

I've been interested in the phone since it was announced, if albeit casually. But now that some grubby hands are getting to play with it it's starting to really pique my interest.

Who knows? It's up to the phone to sell itself to me =P

The camera is the deal-breaker. If I'm happy with the camera then it's $100 for one device like I always planned. If not, then it's the Aria plus a dedicated which will run a few hundred (since, if I'm going to carry around a dedicated, I'm going to get a real good one). But my pics will be shared on flickr, and my vids on youtube, so I don't need the best of the best of the best. Just the best that's sharable and looks good. The Aria does not, unfortunately, shine there.
