Root Villain 2.2 Froyo released tonight apparently........

looks like Villain 2.2 Froyo is done! Apparently it will be uploaded sometime tonight.
Will be good to compare it to cyanogens unsupported alpha.

Sweet That rom has been coming soon for a month now. I'll definitely be giving it a try, I want to try a stable form of JIT.

I've been following it over at XDA, but I'm not a fan of things that are bits of other toms put together.
Whats it like?

I've been using cyanogen's unofficial,unsupported 2.2 for hero. pretty good. It has JiT, but I've disabled it. which seems to have made it more stable, at least for me, anyway.

I have only had time to reinstall all my apps and so on, but it seems pretty good. I'm getting 4.7 linpak scores thanks to jit, and it does all seem very smooth. No obvious bugs so far, other than app2sd not being supported. (Although the ROM is only 50MB, so there's plenty of room for apps).

I'll see how it goes today when it comes to day to day performance and battery life.

The only problem I've had so far was I had trouble downloading an app via the mobile internet. But I think that was caused my weak 2G signal (I am in the middle of a forest atm), rather than the ROM

matey, if you go into settings, applications,manage applications, on mine,running cyanogen 2.2 there is an option of 'move to SD card'.
would it be similar on yours?

so to use froyo-style apps2sd you need to format Sd to fat32.

It's delayed because he left his hero in a rental car

Apparently the (buggy) test release will be tonight/this morning and the proper (hopefully less buggy) release will be a day or so later.

I hope it has better battery life than the froyo ROM I linked to; I'm only getting half of what I got on Villain.

Essentially, apps run much faster.

Froyd (froyo Rom for hero) was uploaded last night for internal testing. A couple of bugs identified and ill release when I have fixed.

Still on target for release

yup, i saw that too. I was also on the villain irc freenode Web IRC (qwebirc) where Lennyuk@ informed everyone of the delay.

I'm on version three of that rom now. The froyo style apps2sd is working properly now.

Already got it running

It's taking a while, and a few reboots, to get up to speed. I started with linpak scores of 0.2, up to 3.7 now. (Highest I've ever got is 4.7).

It's better than the other 2.2 I tried.

Interestingly, it's let me overclock to 748MHz and nothing has exploded yet. Before the highest I could use was 710MHz.
