Can't get an Evo? I just got Sprint to send me one!

I have been patiently waiting for an Evo to make itself available at Best Buy or RadioShack locally and have been having no luck. The white Evos came in to BB and their website showed stock, so I get excited only to find out those were the preorders, which I didn't think made sense, but whatever, same story from multiple stores. A few days ago I called the Shack in my local mall and they informed me that their waiting list was 19 people long. All this while I have been checking Sprint's website and Bestbuy's inventory pretty much daily. So I have the Palm Pre which has had issues and not worked properly pretty much daily for over a year now and I am tired of it. Called Telesales to get on a waiting list and no luck. So after becoming frustrated over all my issues with Sprint, I email dan@sprint.com. I get a phone call the next day from a young lady and she informs me that if I am still interested in the Evo she actually has one that she can ship out to me. It should be here July 20th. Not saying to go this route, but someone somewhere has some Evos in stock.

Hmmm, I just ordered a replacement through telesales about 3 days ago. He told me they wont be shipping for a few more weeks. Maybe they have a few laying around to ship to certain people.
how did you do that, everytime I call they want my to bring my evo to a sprint store to verify that it is bad, did you have to do this, or what did you do exactly, let me know please

Guys, telesales does not have waiting lists! They sell phones! Tell them you want to buy the phone and that you know they are in backorder. As soon as they get one they will ship it to you. The key is you have to commit to buying it. Waiting lists are for people who want to reserve one but not commit to buying.

whats the best way to get an exchange for the phone without having to go to a sprint store, the sprint phone service wants me to take it to a store to show them dust under the screen, I want to just make this as quick as possible and do it all over the phone

I'm assuming that it's a warranty exchange. If that's the case then it's important that they verify that it's a warranty issue and not an abuse issue. You can try to contact HTC directly but the fastest way is to take it to a sprint corporate store. You can also try to get sprint on the phone and see if they will exchange it that way but I'm sure it would take longer.

Just got a replacement from Radio Shack. Not sure if all of them are doing this, or just some, but they held back a number of phones in anticipations of needing replacements. So, even if your store is sold out, they may be able to exchange you faulty phone (if you bought it there of course).

I did call sprint and they want to send me to a store to have them look at this, I think I will pay the 35 dollar restocking fee then have them waive the fee

Oh so you're returning the phone not exchanging it. Yea in that case thY have to see it first.
I want to do an exchange, I got the people at sprint.com phone sales to give me the 35 dollar restocking fee if I get charged it, but now they are saying I can't even go on backorder, the last lady said that yesterday, i guess its a keep calling till you get someone you can work with, lol

I'm on my 4th EVO...from sprint.
what did you do to replace it, I got sprint to finally put notes on my account to replace it once it is in stock, some people want me to take it in to a sprint store, I don't really want to do that, I just want to replace it, now I have notes saying I shouldn't pay the 35 dollar restocking fee and they should reaplce the phone for me, now its just waiting for it to come into stock :p

for most people they don't see small defects in the phones, but for people that are more geeky and understand tech more, we happen to be really picky about what we get, which isn't always a good thing, I think OCD has a part to do with it, I am going to be on my 3rd phone now, this evo is fine besides the dust coming in under the screen

when you go through the replacement process with radio shack, they have to order or request a replacement through htc. all they should be sending is the phone, no packaging. it has nothing to do with radio shack inventory. i ordered a replacement and they guy keeps saying the same thing "its showing that the phone is in transit, and it should arrive by the end of the week." its been two weeks now, so who knows whats going on. also, when you get the replacement look at the reverse logistics report by typing ##786# and see if its a refurb model. the guy at my local radio shack said that they do not replace phones with refurbs. im curious to see.

I got notes on my account that when I call when they are in stock they will have no problem shipping me one, but they will not put me on back order, oh well, I will just have to watch the radar on sprint.com to see when they come into stock, at least I don't have to go down to a sprint store now to talk to them about what I have going on here, and I can just do it through the phone, I typed this with my eyes shut
