how to save the application in sd card?

Go with mybackup.

MyBackup - Android app on AppBrain

Lets me backup all installed apps on the phone to the sd card. Once in a while I merge all the application backups into one directory on the sd card and copy it to my home computer.

2.2 is getting close to 100% for the Hero..probably another month or two for the non Sprint rom from xda.

MyBackup is a good recommendation, but he was asking about running apps2sd, not simply backing up.

Reading the link:

"CyanogenMod is a customized, Aftermarket Firmware distribution for the HTC Dream and Magic cell phones, the Google Nexus One, and the Motorola DROID. (NOT The Hero, Tattoo, Cliq, Galaxy, or anything else on the Unsupported phones page.)"

v2.2 is being developed for the Hero, seems to be about 80-90% working. I am guessing within 2 months it should be close to 100%. 2.2 will give that option to move apps over. From what I understand some apps will have to be reinstalled to be able to install to the sd while others will give an option to be moved over. A market app will allow OTA install of new roms from Cyanogenmod. My friend who is a dev said to stick with their roms.

I believe this is the Cyanogenmod OTA rom installer after the root, wipe etc. The basics to install a custom rom..
