Can anyone help me with using Juice Defender on the Mini.

It looks like the perfect app for me but I can't get it to do anything.

I install it and run setup fine but I can't go in and make any changes.

It says enabled at the top but Timeout/Schedule/Night/Etc say do nothing.

Only Data/Wifi/Timeout/location are available to select below but the options are greyed out.

I would say this app just doesn't work on the Mini but others are using it.

Really all I want to do it switch off data between 10PM and 7AM so if anyone could tell me how to do this it would be much appriciated.

I *think* you need to upgrade to the Ultimate version. I've heard it's good. I haven't got the Mini but the full sized X10. Decided to give it a try and, likewise, my options you mentioned, are greyed out. Some will make the "upgrade to ultimate" enlarge briefly while the night time option doesnt but, im sure i need to. Which is a shame as I heard everyone saying it was free and great and, etc. I think it's 2.79 euros to upgrade.

I don't mind upgrading (paying) for the ultimate edition but I'm sure others on here are just using the free version. I may be wrong though?

I just use the standard power control widget. That allows you to very quickly disable the majority of things e.g. wifi, bluetooth, gps, background data and screen brightness

yes but with the app you never need to turn on/off things by your own.... you can set it to how long the data shall be enable and how long it last..... and kow many kb pr time

I just bought it. :)

The free version wasn't much use to me, as most of the automatic stuff that it did, I already had permanently disabled. What I really wanted was data to be disabled while the screen is locked!

It's a shame we can't see half of what's going on in JuiceDefender, but it's good that all the important bits are visible. It could've been so much worse!

Please let me know if it's worth buying and what settings you're using :)

I did find one called data on demand with was great until I realised it wasn't switching my data off. ;)

I don't really want Airplane Mode just data off.

Since I switched my data off the battery is much, much better. I recon it would last a couple of days.

Are you talking about background data or the data traffic found in the notification bar?

I think JuiceDefender might be working for me!

Last night I was trying to get the battery to drop to 5%, so I could charge it from a very low level. At about 12:30am I really needed to sleep, but the battery was only down to 8%. I turned off Bluetooth, GPS, and Wireless, and intended to plug it into the charger, but I got distracted by my girlfriend and went to sleep without putting it on charge... :p

This morning I woke at 7:30am to find my phone still alive! :D I sleepily plugged it in, but forgot to check the battery level. It must've been pretty low after almost 7 hours. Prior to JuiceDefender, it would've died within 2 hours, so something's definitely improved! :)

I guess some people think JuiceDefender is bad because it appears to stay working in the background, monitoring battery and phone state and whatnot? There are certainly a lot of apps that ruin battery life by never allowing the phone to sleep.

JuiceDefender doesn't seem to use much battery, however... or at least; it seems to be saving me a lot more battery than it uses. :)

Yes and it does the job great, but it's nice to have that app :D

Bit of a sidetrack, but I can recommend Locale (haven't tried it on the X10M yet though)! It's similar to JuiceDefender but offers different controls. One that I find neat is that, if the phone is turned upside down (placed screen-down), Locale turns off auto-synch. Thus, the phone is not using much data but I'm still available for incoming calls and text messages. Once I lift the phone up to use it or put it in my pocket on my way out the house, it'll synch immediately.

The obvious benefit is that as long as I don't look at the screen, the synch is pretty much useless anyway. But once I look at the screen (thus picking it up) I want it to synch, which goes pretty fast with 3G!

Note that this, and many other available settings, are not pre-defined in Locale, you'll need to set your own triggers and consequences. It's quite easy, though.

After running out of battery at the weekend I decided to give Juice Defender another go and found out what I was doing wrong.

I wasn't double tapping the buttons to get the option to activate. Once I'd figured this out it was all plain sailing. I've upgraded to the Ultimate Juice too as I like the wifi options it give you. I'm now running at x1.61 so hopefully this should be enough to give me a days usage.

How do you setup the location options as I only get "view known locations" and "clear known locations" but how do you add locations? I feel as if I'm missing a button?

I still haven't figured this one out... I figure it means the wifi networks that your phone has 'remembered' or connected to previously, but 'view known locations' doesn't do anything on my device.

I purchased Ultimate Juice Defender and found it worked inconsistently. It seems like the Android OS overules it on mnay occasions making it not work as it should and next thing you know the battery is dead.
To use wifi and view known locations your need to 'train' it to remember them by continually turning on wifi until it 'remembers' it. Just because it is remembered in the main settin doesn't mean JD will remember it
The only thing that worked as it should was the autoff (flight mode)
I have since changed to Autotask Killer pro and set the apps I need to be ignored by it and I can get 2 days use out of it. I also use it with a wifi manager. If you do use this just make sure you set certain apps to 'ignore' mode o you could find your alarm doesn't turn on in the morning..... I know this from experience!!!
