It's like Google knows exactly how to piss off cell phone providers.

I love it.



Can't wait to see most carrier's 2.2 come with these features mysteriously absent.

I think Android is a "wake up call" for a lot of carriers.

Google gets it's foot in the door with a free OS, then it's users want everything the OS has to offer.

It may take a bit of time, but Android will be better for everyone in the long run.

Yeah it never stops amazing me that after all these years, basic cell phone plans keep getting -more- expensive instead of cheaper. It's backwards from most other tech industry. Imagine if HDTVS kept getting more expensive.

I still remember when CDs debuted. Studio execs and "experts" said CDs would drop from their @ $13 price down closer to vinyl's $8-10 once CDs became more popular and widespread. Haven't seen that happen yet, either.

And that of course is more to do with the RIAA than cost of technology itself, you can buy 100 blank CDs for around $20.00.

It's about time for the providers to stop ripping off its customers by charging multiple times for the same product. We pay for the bits and should be able to use them as we please. Tethering costs them nothing. I wonder how people would react if the gas company told them that they were paying for city gas and a additional fee is required to use the gas on a highway or in a lawnmower. On a similar note, at&t customers are delighted to find out they can get free femtocells which do both phone and 3g data. What most probably don't realize is that at&t's femto is set up so that while you're using your cable/sat/fiber modem for the service (which you pay for), at&t is still charging/subtracting for the data and minutes you use too. Double dip, especially if at&t is your home internet provider. Fng thieves all!

Up to this point I was thinking "he's describing the 'delivery fee' the natural gas company in Oklahoma charges"

That's right, they charge you money for them to pressurize the lines so you can use the gas.
