Just got email from Verizon about the Update that starts on the 17th.

I just got an email stating a update for the Eris with this copy & pasted out of the pdf link."Droid Eris software version ROM: 2.36.605.1/Radio: 2.42.00.04.12"

Heres the link to the pdf on my email.

For some reason it says its a 2.1 update? I thought this was only a patch to fix some issues and add enhancements. Since we already have 2.1 OTA for the phone already. Did anyone else get this email today?

I got the email too and already have 2.1 on my Eris. Don't know what's going on.

I too got the email..

So I wondering the same as everyone else. Why annouce this 2.1 update like 2.1 did not happen. We all have 2.1 by now so they really should have revised it to state a fix for bugs for 2.1

Who knows, maybe verizon just clicked the wrong button which was meant for may. Nevertheless it woiuld be awesome to get a update which fixed all the bugs and made the phone badass again

I think it's a goof on Verizons part. They should have updated the pdf to state that it is an update patch I guess haha.

I don't know if I should wait for this OTA patch or just ROOT and get it over with. I have been checking out the unrevoked3 method but I want to make sure it doesn't wipe my phone. My son rooted his incredible and it didn't wipe anything only gave him superuser. I have been searching around like crazy to see if i can root also without wipe and have gotten conflicting answers. I only want to use my stock rom for the time being until I become more familiar with rooting.
