CNET data speed test on all 4 carriers... Sprint LOST!

1.) Speed test mean nothing, that is like getting on the the average freeway and saying that your car can only go 45 mph. 2.) Tmobile would buy sprint. 3.) LTE and wimax is the way it has to been in the united states, do to the frequency problems.

Tmobile USA doesn't have the money to afford Sprint, (as the spectrum sprint owns is nearly invaluable), and DT (Tmo's parent) is looking to offload Tmobile or spin it off as it's own company. Sprint undoubtedly has the upper hand in the 4G wars, due to the MASSIVE amount of spectrum they own, which can be considered invaluable.

Yeah, Speedtest.net app doesn't ever really show impressive scores for the Evo even when on WiFi. I can watch downloads go 10x faster than what the scores indicate.

that is on wifi... right?

we talking about on sprint network

Ya, it's on Wifi. I was responding to coopdro's remark that speetest.net's app "doesn't ever really show impressive scores for the Evo even when on WiFi." IMHO, the app does fine measuring speed. I test my laptops against the EVO all the time over WiFi and they're generally always equal.

FWIW: I could *NEVER* get 14mb on my Hero. The EVO seems much more capable processing packets.

The CNET scorese aren't conclusive. I was in Times Square from 4:30p-10:45p this past Saturday. I had a wide range of 3G results using the same SpeedTest.net app. At 4:30p, speeds were as low as 350 down and 100 up. At 7:30p, more typical to get 600-700 down and 300-400 up. At 10:45p, 2000-2200 down and 900-1000 up.

Most interesting though - my iPhone friends continued to struggle getting connections, often failing. One friend from VZW had better outdoor speeds but mine were better indoor and I had no problem getting signal in the restaurant or theater we visited.

Question, what is spectrum? What can you do with spectrum? What is it for??

(I'm new to this sorry)

Spectrum is transmission frequency. There are very few available now, but Sprint had the foresight to buy up a bunch years ago that they can now use. Other carriers are dependent on the FCC approving the sale of more (which they will to raise more $ for the federal coffers).

Not to mention the acquisition of Nextel, which was all about the Spectrum IMO.

Did you guys noticed the slow upload speed on AT&T???? It's ridiculous!

And by the way, they stated that this test is for checking the new speeds due to AT&T's network improvements...

It has been years now that ATT has promised faster and more reliable in NYC. At this point, it just looks like they can't get it done.

Notice the neow tagline "The nation's largest wifi network." I guess that is the best that can be expected.

so sprint is slow with bad customer service to sum it uup

maybe in texas man ...speeds are not as good as att on Charlotte and Rock Hill (SC and NC) but they are fast where i can stream tv everywhere on my evo and watch any website. No dropped calles also

their service is WAYYYYYYY better than att, this is coming from someone who was a loyal att customer since 2003, their CS is by far the worst ... ( i also had a small affair with Verizon) and Att is the worst by a mile....verizon is not great but just average. Sprint is Top notch! best so far.
