Armband for the Hero

I am looking for a quality armband for my sprint hero. I have found a few that are just pouches and then the arm band, but i have broken those before at the clip.

I go the gym 5 times a week and when I see these people with huge iphones strapped to their arms I just think they look sad to be honest. A tiny mp3 player can be had for just a few pounds, why make a spectacle of yourself by strapping a large and expensive piece of equipment to your arm? Not worth the risk if u ask me, and it looks daft

Or he might want to use it as a GPS reciever when he's jogging/cycling, which is exactly what I use mine for (there's lots of apps that track your movements and use the GPS to help pedometer calculations), and would like a stable place to keep the phone. As I would, actually.

Which is my point..if he's using it for mp3 then getting a small stand alone mp3 player would be more practical

I dont care what anyone thinks of me while I am at the gym trying to better myself..... Maybe you would get more out of your workout if you weren't busy checking out dudes at the gym with there big fancy iphones strapped to there arms......

I'm with you. Who cares what people think?! What sense does it make to go out and buy another mp3 player, when there is a perfectly good on a device that you have with you anywhere that you go anyway. Additionally, who wants to update two different devices with music all the time when you can just do one.

It's ok though, I understand. Somebody has to be a hater.

Personally think the Hero might be a little too big and heavy to go jogging with, but I could see it coming out with me on a bike ride.

Anyone know of any decent apps that track how far you've travelled, speed etc etc ??

There appears to be a trend of people posting in threads just to make a comment, bump up there post count or just to cause trouble. If you don't have a valuble answer for the OP's question please keep it to yourself. If he / she wants to use an armband, who are we to judge?

Back on topic, I don't think there is an armband availible specifically for the Hero. The only solution I can suggest is to get a case with a belt clip if you can attach it to your shorts / joggers somehow

EDIT: What I used to do before I got a nano with an armband is put it in my shorts pocket, but I got shorts with zip pockets so nothing fell out.

This is the one i'm currently using, I had bought it for my HTC mogul and it fit it perfectly. So I tried it with my Hero and also fits it pretty good. Only thing i've noticed that since the Hero is thinner then my mogul, the plastic covering on the front is a little baggy, which sometimes makes touching the screen a little tricky but it's not that bad. I actually think the thickness of the mogul may have stretched out the clear plastic which is why it's so baggy. Might not be as bad using it with a hero straight out the box.

I also thought that since the screen was capacitive that it wouldn't register my finger on the screen through the plastic but it does.

I got the "Large arm" sized one and it fits perfectly. Even has a small strap on the band for your headphone wires to be held in place. I use BT stereo headsets though as I can't stand wires.

And FYI, it's not heavy at ALL when running.

Cardio trainer is a great app, tracks distance, time, steps etc. and also has a history file for your workouts.

Might have to give that armband a bash too...just need these bloody shin-splints to clear up!

Really good point. I just got the Moment. I am shipping it back tomorrow to get the Hero, mainly because the Moment is so huge and I cannot take it on my runs.

Has anyone had any major problems with the Hero?

I use pandora or stitcher instead of an mp3 player for the variety. I just downloaded runstar and like the ease of use and sharing capabilities. you can track your progress and it is free. I am also looking for an armband for my hero. Also would love to hear any insight on bluetooth headphones. My bose ear buds are about to bite the dust and was wondering about the small sony BT Earbuds or the motorola rockr BT. Any imput?

I too use the Hero at the gym and it's quite light and useful! Runstar is an excellent app I use every day.

The arm band I use is made by Roots, they sell it here in Best Buy.

It's well built but the only problem is that you have to take out the phone to change tracks (unless you're willing to use the horrible HTC ear phones)

Sportypal is not as accurate as Runkeeper having tried both Runkeeper logs GPS better, although I prefer the web interface of Sportypal, so I export the GPX from Runkeeper to Sportypal.. thx

Also you can get an extender so it goes around your waist. Fully waterproof as well and allows for use when swimming!

Buy you a set of bluetooth headphones they work well with the hero. Only problem is is you sweat alot I gurantee it will screw the headphones up. Don't think for a second the $89 Jaybirds will work with sweat either. I run around 20-25 miles a week and 3 pairs didnt last me a month.
