Video Chat EVO

Use Fring. It's a much better app. Set up a Skype account on your computer first and add any friends. Then download Fring on your Evo. Open Fring and go to menu then add ons. Add Skype. Once done with that just sign in with your Skype account. Start making video calls to an Evo or PC.

skype no longer works with fring, per fring email 2 days ago. qik takes a bit of fiddling, but works well. not duplex speach though, the person who gets the call has to push to talk, the calling party does not.

Just out of curiosity, when you guys video chat with Qik, does the person who makes the call have to hold the mic button (can't remember exactly what the button is) in order to talk? It's like one side works fine while the other person has to hold the screen when they talk. It's super annoying, but I never hear anyone complain about it. Thanks!

the fring issue really grinds my gears. i read that qik only works evo to evo, is that true?

yes, video chat is not even an option in the non-evo market app for android. that is what came with the phone and i had to search and search the qik site in order to find out there was a evo version with video chat. i believe other phones will be able to do it b4 too long.

yes when my wife and i got it working, she had to press a button. i think as the calling party i did not have to. i never actually saw the button now that i think of it... but there was 1. that feature was added due to voice quality issue i read somewhere.... echo....echo...echo..
