Playing tracks in album track order

I have now got Genres working in the Music player on my Desire but have hit a new problem. Track Order.

All the tracks in the folders on my SD card have track numbers, copied from the PC folders. This means that when I play an album on my PC it plays in the track order; essential for symphonies!

However in the Desire Music player tracks are sorted alphabetically; Astro shows me that the track numbers are there as part of the file name. I do not wish to created over 100 playlists.

Is there a way to get the Music player to sort tracks by track order?

I have the exact need too because I have cd's ripped to mp3 and they have to be in the same order as each track is mixed.

For this I have my albums on my pc in a folder entitled "said album"

Then in my media player I choose album, select the album and it has the tracks kind of in their own track list and plays them continuously even if i start from track 3.

Hope that helps. By the way, I use the stock player.

Found this thread:-

Issue 4620 - android - Music Player ignores WMA metadata track number - Project Hosting on Google Code

seems it is a Google bug; although maybe confined to WMA files for some users.

Comment #19 equates to my situation. I only have *.mp3 files and they do not sort in track number order.

Has anyone found a Desire Music player that does take note of the track number tag?

Mortplayer is mentioned. But It seems to start at the beginning of tracks and requires button presses to move through; 5000+ tracks is slow! Ok found some controls to scroll through the 400+ folders. Tracks in correct order. Seems hopeful.

Are they M4a files? For some reason the Android code seems to put M4a's in alphabetical order. Try going into Album view, long press on the album and select play. See if it plays in order for you then.

Hey pal.

Thanks for this post, seems that for me it was the solution I was looking for.

I listen to Trance music so track order is essential for the 'proper" listening experience! :D

Mind you, it is annoying that the default player does not does this automatically and they're MP3s so why I don't know!! But hey, that's life

Thanx again!! ;)
