Root Annoying Root issue

Hi,

\I've been spending all day trying to root my Vodafone .08 Desire and getting nowhere.

Basically i've not bothered with a goldcard as I see no branding when its booted up..

When ever I try I get this error;

Erasing cache and rebooting in RUU mode...

erasing 'cache'... OKAY
... OKAY

About to start flash...
< waiting for device >

Rebooting to bootloader...

rebooting into bootloader... OKAY

Step 1 complete - now use the bootloader menu to enter recovery mode.

To do this, press the power button, wait a few seconds, then use the vol
and power button to select the RECOVERY option.

Can anyone suggest where i'm going wrong and its starting to annoy me..

Many thanks

Could it possibly be you have the 0.80 boot loader

Cheers for that, looks like it does need a gold card then according to the first part of those instructions...

As i've only got one sdcard does that render it useless once i've created it or do you really need two of them to root it?

Once you make it a goldcard it remains a goldcard so really you only need one.
There is a goldcard tool in the stickys that is very easy to use.

Sorted. Installed the sync software, uninstalled it and left the android drivers. Then used the one click method..

Thanks to kboya for this rooting thread;

Working perfect now with 2.2 from here;
[ROM-FroYo] Official Froyo HTC Sense ROM (16/07 v1.0c | OpenDesire Team) - xda-developers

Peace out.

Glad you got it sorted out, that rooting tool is excellent, knew it worked with the 0.75 bootloader.
You have just verified it works with the 0.80 version too
