I got my Slide a little over a month ago and i love it.

Sure its a mid-range device and not as sexy as the Samsuck (sorry if the hate is to obvious) offering but the Slide is like that girl you fall in love with that may not be a 10 but is sweet and has similar intrest as you.

My girl may not be 36-24-36 but she knows the Reds beat the Rockies tonight 3-2..... we just get along.... much like me and my slide.

I get up in the morning brush my teeth, get dressed, throw my slide in my pocket and go.

On my way to work I text my girl with the genius button to tell her good morning.

I keep track of the Reds score with Scorecenter.

The phone just fits my lifestyle.

On the Vibrant I would not be able to pocket it for one, two with no Genius button my texts would go down and my great girl might dump me (not likely lol) due to no lovin's from me in the morning.

The Vibrant is a great device. I just like my Slide much more.

Is anyone second guessing the decision to get the Slide yet?

I have been trolling the vibrant forums and have seen at least three ex sliders... took a look see at the tmo store today and I must admit that vibrant is pretty vibrant, if I had money to throw around I most definitely would get it and of course keep my awesome slide, but I can't very well keep my cake and eat it too...I'd say I'm content for now and will continue to troll the vibrant forums for all the juicy negatives...

In this economy I will not "waste" money.

The unemployment rate here in Ohio is at an all time high and second highest in the nation behind Michigan. My job is in no way secure so I am saving all I can in case I get laid off down the line.

I was not even going to get the Slide but with the Father's day sale I was able to weezle my way into one for free. To me the Vibrant is not worth the $100 I would have paid for it (t-mobile will comp walmart, amazon, wirefly, costco, etc)

I got the Slide free....... not even an upgrade fee. The only person I know that got a better deal is behold_this who got his for free without a contract extention.

I've had the slide since launch day and loving it. One of the main reasons I got it (even knowing something with 1 ghz was on its way) was hardware keyboard. Ironically, I'm loving Swype, so I don't use the slide out keyboard. I'm you're run of the mill business user so I'm not gaming or such. I've had no lagginess with the slide and still loving it. Also, Samsung.....not confident given their track record. Vibrant looks to be a great phone. The question is, if I didn't have the slide and was in a TMO store today, which of the two would I buy. Close call....my next phone will be another HTC, and this time I don't need to impose my constraint of a hardware keyboard. Maybe by Christmas I'll get myself a new gadget and sell the slide on ebay. Having said that, if I fast forward one year I will still be very happy with the slide.

I did stop at the TMO store and played with the Vibrant for about 5 minutes. One thing I didn't like was the 4 hardware buttons. They didn't seem nearly as responsive as the slide's and I use them a lot. Seemed very flimsy, but I guess that's the direction all the phone are going.

Nope no vibrant here! By the way guys the vibrant will not be tmo's top phone for long. The "most powerful android on the market" is coming to tmo soon! Obviously info is limited but some leaks are already on the web (project emerald ring a bell?). I had a very interesting and unusually candid talk with a manager in PDA department and I shit you not he says "i will tell you a phone that'll put the slide and vibrant, or even droid x and the evo to shame is coming before the end of the year." he couldn't or wouldn't really say the manufacturer or potential name of the phone, but he did say on the sly that "they made the phone in your pocket." the phone in my pocket of course htc my3gs!

Take that for what it's worth guys, but keep in mind there is always something better just around the corner. Waiting for the next great thing is no way to live life. if you enjoy your slide like I do Just be happy with what you have and don't worry about what the other guy has. My phone has NO lag, NO problem supporting all the newest apps, and really NO issues of any kind so...NO reason to want anything else.

Its obviously the dual core HTC with 4.3inch screen and Qwerty known as the HTC Ace with Android 3.0 being flagship most likely not being released till around October or November ;) but I'm sure you already knew this.

well, the htc ace does not have a qwerty so don't think that's it. also i don't think it will be called the ace anyway because that is a european phone aka desire hd. rumors from tmo have "emerald" being named after a composer one leaked name is schubert and i forget the other at the moment but whats in a name..."a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" plus those could just be code names anyway.

BTW the guy i spoke with said it would be coming late september to early november, he said he was hearing that it is being released with 2.2 but updated to 3.0 as a "christmas gift" as long as the 3.0 source is actually released by google by then which is not a sure thing yet although google has said they plan to release 3.0 for the holiday season, so we'll see.

The Galaxy S is a good device. We shall see if samsung will keep up with updates.

The Galaxy S may be a good phone but the Vibrant is NOT the Galaxy S. The Galaxy S has a front facing camera and a flash on it's regular camera. Once again T-mobile is working the dumbed down version instead of releasing the full version or a keyboard rocking version like the Epic.

The thing is, I'm sure if we get Froyo and Root we can get 800mhz out of this phone easy. (Mine never even gets warm at the stock speed) Also, due to the lower resolution screen on it, GPU benchmarks already have the Slide outperforming the Nexus 1. And the custom T-Mo/HTC rom on this thing is blazing fast.

The only real downside to the Slide is build quality, I mean it isn't a G1, but with the new awesome case T-Mobile just released it doesn't need to be.

And even though Swype is the next best thing since sliced bread I still want a real keyboard since it gives me so much more screen real estate when on the internet and gives me a keypad when playing games. It's fine that a few new Android phones have high resolution screens, but what is the point if half the screen is filled with a virtual keyboard?

I would advise anyone to at least wait for samsung to bring forth 2.2 or 3.0 to their S phones before even thinking about buying them.

They have to overcome their bad past before getting all the attention back.

Its funny that they think that by adding some movies onto their phones will attract customers.

Who would be a fool to fall for that gimmick?

I took back my slide for the Vibrant. my main reason was the light weight and thin size. Having had the slide hi can tell you the slide was just as fast for me. I only utilize internet tho,I am not a gamer. The screen on the vibrant is clearer, but I didn't have a problem with the slide screen. The slide is more beginner friendly. It comes set up the way you need it. The slide is a great phone and unless you need a thinner/lighter phone, or you are a big gamer or you use your phone for moviesyou won't see a huge difference in these 2 phones. Vibrant has google voice which acts a the genius button (hold down bottom right button to activate). Does all but text. I bought vlingo for $10 which does the text now, too. It isn't as accurate as the slide but it works. I am happy with my choice (I had a lot of problems with my slide and had to exchange it or get something new) and the weight was a key factor for me. But the slide is awesome and I liked some functions of it better. For example, adding individual ringtones was much easier. anyway, enjoy your slides! They really are great phones.

Although qualcomm is making dual core chip sets, the phone for the holidays wont be. It doesn't make any sense to release a dual core between now and then, when there are still chipsets that run up to 1.5 ghz on single core. From a marketing pt of view...it makes sense to release those cheaper chipsets first, and have people want the latest greatest 1.5 ghz phone...then jump to dual core. If they jump from 1ghz to dual core instantly they lose an entire opportunity to milk us.

Also that t-mobile employee doesn't know what he is talking about. Store managers aren't told anything, they are too low on the ladder. That manager probably spends his time on tmonews reading the same blogs we read. Trust me.

i got the my touch slide last week.. I like it a lot! but I am thinking about exchanging it for the SAmsung Vibrant... should I do it??? seems like the vibrant has way more stuff than the slide....any suggestions???

If you want to watch movies and play games on your phone then I would consider it. Just be warned even though the phone has a 1GHz processor Samsung's track record with updating their phones is horrid.
