I'm just sitting here and watching the movie IT and got to thinking, what do you guys think the scariest movies of all time is.. So lets hear em..

As a kid I hated "Child's Play" now its a pretty funny movie... Movies don't necessarily scare me anymore... But I really hate contortion... freaks me the f out... Emily Rose, Exorcist.

Horror might be my favorite genre, but yet the movies generally don't scare me. Creep me out, disturb, make me feel uneasy, sure. But Im having trouble of thinking of films that scare me. As a kid, sure there were plenty.

Umm... to me, Paranormal Activity, was the scariest that I've seen. The reason being is because of the atmosphere I was in and the actual content of the film. I was alone in a 10 bedroom house at 2am, while downstairs in the family room of an open floor plan. The only light that was on was the one from the TV. I was brilliantly smart and decided to watch Paranormal Activity on DVD for the first time.

If you have seen the movie, you'll understand how the content in the movie can really fit well with the atmosphere. The night scenes always made me shiver in fear, especially the shots with the camcorder. Just the atmosphere itself of the film scared me. I get scared a lot more by suspense and darkness than by like gore or some monster. It's the fear of the unknown that is the most terrifying and exciting.

I usually never watch scary movies by myself but for this one, I wanted to. I will sometimes watch them with just a friend or two because I don't want to watch them with a whole group of people because it brings a sense of security, which will make the films less scary.

A film that I'm very much looking forward to is The Lady in Black. If you have never seen the play in London, you must if you ever visit there. Try to see it though during an off night (not weekends, not during major vacations, night shows, etc) because the crowd will be less.

Poltergeist always got me as a kid! Theres a film made in the 60's called The Haunted, or The Haunting or something - that was pretty scary as well from what I remember!

I saw it thrice. Once in theater, another time on DVD at home w/ the gf and once downloaded on my PC (alternate ending).

I really didn't find the movie scary at any point. I felt that I could fairly predict what was going to happen in each ongoing scene. The only time I jumped was b/c my old lady jumped and scratched the hell out of my arm when Micah was thrown at the camera (which I knew was going to happen due to the trailers of the movie).

Well it's really not a movie but the only movie that I saw that gave me repeated nightmares was Faces of Death. I remember watching it with my older brother and his friends, I swear I had nightmares about people getting electrocuted and shot in the head for months. AAARGH...And you know what's messed up, this movie is on blu-ray now!! WTF. Saw it at frys. I bought it for my kids to watch. jk.

it did too have a happy ending, the building was sealed off the rest of the world lived not to mention the stupid people died.

I have never been scared by a movie, but the jump scenes in The Ring made me jump. They're just corpse shots, but they still give me the chills to look at -- a little, at least. I'm talking about the one with the mouth gaping open unnaturally wide and the skin looking like it's been soaking in water for a week (the intention was to make the face look scared to death -- literally -- and the skin look, well, like it's been in a well for a week).

So when I got it on DVD, of course I took screen captures. Then I went on Google and found a production still of it, the frame wasn't in the movie, it was lighter, zoomed out more, clearer, more realistic.

Now, with regards to disturbing, I've seen much worse. The most disturbing film I've seen wouldn't be called a scary movie, but it depicted realistic child abuse on camera (and not just the hitting kind, either). I am quite certain I will never see a "scary movie" that will bother me as much as that one.

Faces of Death....nice. That reminds me, I have to put them on DVD and watch em soon.

The Shinning was nice too.

The Shining...when I was 15 watching the movie. the scene where the Jack slashed the door really really freaked me out. after that doors in darkness spooked me
