So I had this extra stand from my Moto Droid, and since the docking app is activated with a magnet, I just figured I'd move the magnet.

Here is what the EZE Stand looks like now. There are two magnets.

The small one you see here on the right, is located directly under the foam.

Here is where it was located, under the foam. Just pull the foam back and pop it out.

There is a larger magnet that keeps the smaller one in place, so after you drill a small hole for the small magnet, you need to pull the larger one form the inside and relocate it to the rear of the smaller one.

See below.

Once the inside magnet is on, you're good to go.

Make your you have place the small magnet in the correct direction, since the polarity of the magnet activates car dock or multimedia dock. So if it goes into car dock, FLIP the small magnet around.

Using a right angle micro usb cord, the Droid X is a perfect fit.

A few things I noticed.

On the dock, unplugged, the phone's back light will time out. So the phone has to be plugged in to keep dock mode up.

The dock mode is pretty neat, you have 3 pages, and you add apps to the dock screen for quick access.

It's cheap too, $15.99 includes the stand, the right angle micro usb cable, and shipping.

Just saved myself $40.00

I'll use this until someone makes a stand the works with a case.

I have no desire to place it in to portrait mode, so it works for me.

It doesn't need to be in a dock when I stream the HDMI, so it doesn't matter to me that I can't access the HDMI port with the dock.

But you are correct. If they make one that is just slightly wider, than you can use both ports.

Nice work ymDroid! I am going to work on supporting the Droid X going forward. I see that as the ports are located on the lower left side, you can't plug them in when in portrait orientation, but does the Droid X fit OK without cables plugged in when sitting upright in the ezeStand? Just curious because the width on the spec sheet of 2.6" may be tight, but sometimes the width is at a feature such as a button.
Thanks!

Todd,
I sent you an email am waiting to hear from you.
You were to test the fit for Droid X this weekend.

Without my case on, it will slide down about halfway.

It seems to get tighter the deeper vertical you go.

So no, it doesn't fit vertically all the way down.

And the half that is going down, is the section with the two ports, so there isn't anyway the usb plug could fit.

Thanks again ymdroid. I really appreciate the info and the work you've done to test out your X with the ezeStand.

Eze,

How long do you think it would take to produce a new stand?

I guarantee that since the Droid X's ports are on the lower left, and the Droid Incredible's ports are on the lower left, that the new stand would work for the Incredible.

Although the Incredible doesn't need magnets, it would be nice to just have something to set it in since there is no stand available for it.

I cobbled together a stand for my desk and wanted to add a magnet so it would enter desk dock mode. I move a magnet around the back and get it into Car Dock mode but can't seem to get it into desk mode.

Is there a different position for the magnet for the two modes or is there some software setting to tell it what dock mode to use when docking?

Flip the magnet. It uses polarity to determine whether to go into car mode or docking mode.

Looks like some sort of packaging bumper that you pull the the ends of speakers when you take them out of the box...

how well does this hold down the phone? i mean i already have a moto dock and i like how its weighted so i can easily navigate through the phone without tipping it over. Just wondering if this can tip over easily? i wanna buy a couple more docks (one for work and one for my nightstand (unless there's a 20 ft micro hdmi cable available) but don't want to shell out another 80 ducks.
