so i rooted the phone and was going through and deleting programs that came with the phone that i didnt need.. myspace.. dualclockwidget.. the things i dont use.. well i deleted gtalkservice.apk thinking it was the actual google talk app and now i get a force close whenever i turn the phone on.
"Sorry! The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
i've followed some of the steps from other forums such as:

com.google.process.gapps force close !? - xda-developers

but this is for the XPERIA X10 so i didnt completely go through with changing "chmod ####" since i figured the numbers and file structure might be different based on the phone. now i have tried replacing both the gtalkservice.apk and Talk.apk by placing on the sd card and copying into system/app.. i've even gone through cmd and did a force install to the phone of both .apk files but after that im not 100% on what to do..

i dont want to have to restore the phone and lose all my customizations and apps (even though i've backed up).. unless i absolutely have to.

any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance :)

The only thing I can think of (and mind you, I know nothing about rooting) is if you can find someone who has rooted their phone and ask them to send you that .apk file. Then maybe you could reinstall it. Not even sure you can reinstall things like that, but it's the only suggetion I can think of.

i have all the .apk files i need.. i found a 1.6 backup from another forum site that has the talk.apk and gtalkservice.apk. i just need to know exactly how to place in the system/app folder and what chmod #### is because i know its not the same as other phones.. that would be all too simple if it was haha. i've already tried doing a copy to the phone, a push install doing "adb install path/filename" in cmd prompt thru windows which actually did the install but didnt fix the problem. i've even placed both apks on the sdcard and tried to do a copy that way but i'm still a little uncertain on the proper way to do it that way.

do a google search for "lg ally system dump" ... you'll see
LG Droid Ally Dump - xda-developers

Follow links there to download the proper complete backup of the folders and files you will need to restore your Ally.

I downloaded those files a while back (but not on this computer, so it's not easy for me to get them now, but I could send them to you Monday if you still need) ... but I have ssh access to where they're stored and did a directory search filtered for "gtalkservice" and found:

Ally/LG Droid Ally System Dump/app/gtalkservice.apk
Ally/LG Droid Ally System Dump/framework/com.google.android.gtalkservice.jar
Ally/LG Droid Ally System Dump/framework/com.google.android.gtalkservice.odex

first make sure that you've updated to v9.. it will remove the root but will fix the market problem.. it did for me. from doing a factory restore on the phone and update of software I actually unprovisioned my phone from my account haha.. I had to manually reprogram the phone (called verizon for help and they gladly helped me reprogram it, i just told them i updated the software and did a hard reset). as far as doing a restore, i never got a clear answer on exactly how to .

good luck.
