I have been searching much of the day and while I've found several threads about 2.2 roms and rooting I have not found a tutorial or guide for rooting an Eris with 2.1 on it or for installing a 2.2 rom such as kaosfroyo. Can someone point me in the right direction?

My wife currently has and Eris with the OTA 2.1 upgrade and we would like to see if a 2.2 version would make it run better. Thanks.

I used kayosfroyo for a few days, but I dont think it is fully ready, the gallery app has the rotate issue where the screen freaks out. There is a working gallery but it wont install on 2.2 (I use it on my Ivans Eris Official ROM). Also the camera app doesn't work. Other than that it is probably the ROM I'm going to switch to once the bugs are ironed out.

The camera I can wait for (though barcode scanning not working was a bit of a pain), the biggest issue for me is that answering a call was pretty laggy. It took a couple of seconds for the display to light after the phone started ringing (I was close to using the button to answer, but I really wanted to see who was calling) and the control to answer the call was slightly unresponsive when it did show. I don't actually talk all that much on the phone, but that was the issue that made me decide to wait and see with k.f. Otherwise, I really like it.

ive been running White Widow 4.6 w/JIT for about a week now at 786mhz and around 4.5 mflops. The only problem ive run into is a minor lockscreen bug but thats all. I dont think tethering works on it yet but I could be wrong on that. I tried Kaosfroyo(v23) before that and its just too unstable imo at this point but I think it will get there soon
