I have tried watching all kinds of videos on youtube about how to get boot animations and how to get the sounds too. I have gotten nowhere really. I have the bootanimation/sound downloaded onto my desktop and can't get it any further than my sd card. this is totally different than jailbreaking an iphone(that was simple, just like the phone). but this takes a helping hand I think. so if I could get some help I'd appreciate it, my phone is stock, haven't even tried to root, too afraid after reading about roms and kernals to touch it. please help.

I spent 3 hours the night I got my phone doing this. When I finally realized what I had done wrong I did a /facepalm and all was good. Once everything was set up correctly I pushed through the animation and sound in less than 2 minutes.

Read this post and follow it TO THE T. Do exactly what it says here and you will be fine. But if you miss even 1 little step, it won't work.

This video is also helpful, I would suggest watching it before you start. Then print out the instructions on the post I linked and follow those exactly.

Good call, that makes it really easy. I'm not sure tho if that's the one that allows the addition of mp3 files for sound or not. The original author (Mattguyver), at one time had another file that allowed it and it can be found in the huge boot animation thread. Last I saw it was in the main forum unless it got moved here.

Edit: the thread was already linked above in the second post. In the animation thread, its on page 8, post #374.
