Help Moment slider mech Q...

Hi everyone,

I used to browse these forums quite often before the Moment came out. A few weeks ago I was very interested in ditching my Pre to get the Moment. However, after the Moment came out, my brother (who was also interested in picking it up) checked the phone out, said it was no good, and purchased the Hero -- I played with his Hero and really liked it, especially Sense UI. I was contemplating getting the Hero, but I went to the Sprint store today and got my hands on the Moment, and I liked it a lot.

The only thing that bothered me was that the slider mech seemed loose, and the phone had a bit of "Oreo effect" or screen twist (just like my Pre, which drives me nuts). However, the display model at the Sprint store had an odd security holster wrapped around it, which had two plastic "claws" going in between the screen and the keyboard, which pried the phone apart about 1/6" or so. I was wondering:

Q: Do Moment owners think the slider mech is generally pretty stable/tough? Do you experience much/any wobble or twisting with the slider?

Also, I had a question specifically for Edaze55. I recall when I used to browse these forums regularly, you raved about the Hero and weren't sure you could trade it for the Moment. I was wondering:

Q: Have you switched to the Hero? If so, which phone do you prefer?

I had the Hero first. On the 9th of Oct., returned it on the 2nd of Nov for the Moment. So to answer that, yes, I did trade my Hero for the Moment and Im quite happy with it.

That said, there were a few small things that I didnt like with the Hero. The collection of dust under the glass was my reason for the initial return, but I waited until the Moment came out to trade up. The keyboard was another, which if you recall, was the one reason I wanted the Moment over the Hero. Last, there was lag. Not all the time, but most noticable when I would go to call using the people widget. I cant tell you how many times I tapped to call someone only to find out I was calling someone else.

A week of owning the Moment, I knew I liked it better. Thats not to say the Moment doesnt have its own set of issues, but Im more accepting of the Moments flaws. The AGPS issue is the big one. Its a bit annoying, but with a software update that should go away. I dont need it to go back and forth to work... Not friends with Al Hiemerz yet. So its just annoying with location based apps and geotagging. I can get by with it as is.

Thats really the only complaint I have about my Moment. I know there are some on here that switched Moment to Hero, and still others that went Hero > Moment > Hero. It just comes down to personal preference in the end. Both are good phones, they just have different issues.

I think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations about the slider. I read some complaints about the slider being loose...well duh, sliders are going to be a bit loose compared to non-keyboard phones.

I'm very very happy with the Moment and I've played with the Hero extensively in the store on multiple visits, and the Moment is just much easier to use from a physical standpoint.
