T-mobile MyTouch August update?

Anybody care to speculate on what the "MyTouch3G" item for August is on their road map?? It's fun to dream right?

Hopefully they follow through...but if one of the HTC phones thats on that timeline for September or November are any good, I won't be with Mytouch for long lol

With any phone they come out with, they'll still be behind on updates on those devices. It will be the same as now, waiting, wishing, dreaming for updates

I just wonder if it has anything to do with the fact of how easy the MT3G is to root. If pretty much anyone with the slightest technical knowledge or the ability to read and follow directions can root the phone and use whatever version of android they want, then why bother rushing out and OTA?

im not to litterate on pc , but i think i could do it, all i have is a laptop, can you root from a laptop? it has port. thanks for any info.

Of course, it doesnt matter if its a laptop or a desktop, hell i dont even use a desktop anymore

thanks friend, im gonna do it, the main thing I want is live wallpapers, silly but I like the nexus one wallpapers, friend of mine had them on his mytch and they worked great,take care.

the only thing i can say is that they will slow your phone down, and as it starts to bog down over time its gonna drive you crazy. livewallpapers really arent that big a deal, just a little bit of animation

All I am saying is that it really doesn't help anything on the MT3G. Its a "pretty" feature. For me its about performance and functionality over pretty

I was wondering if anyone knew what the situation is for those of us who have unlocked phones running on AT&T's network. Would I have to be on T-mobile's network in order to get the android update (assuming it does come out eventually)?

To get it Over The Air, of course you would. But someone is sure to save the file and upload it somewhere.

Thanks for the info. Is there a guide somewhere for the install process doing the update this way? Or is it a pretty painless process? I apologize if these are really obvious questions, but I am new to android.

There'll be flashing instructions when it's out and uploaded. I'm not sure if you'll be able to do it to an unrooted phone, although it should be possible.

well considering this is the first round about, ball park date tmobile has kind of given away on their roadmap, i think you could rely on this one a little more than usual, in my opinion at least.
