Help How do I get it to not merge contacts

I sync with Exchange Server. In the Contacts list, it is taking contacts with shared information, such as a shared home number or a shared email address and merging them into a single contact. It deletes one of the names and I have one contact with 2 mobile numbers, 2 birthdays, etc. How do I get it to not do this?

I wish to know as well because I have 100000 Jon Kim, Jon Lee and Alex Kim in my phone!!!!!!!

I had the same merging problem. It was annoying to see the contacts separated in the Google contacts and then merged into one entry in the Android address book.

1. Select the contact from the contacts list to see the contact details.

2. Push the Menu button and select Edit contact

3. In the edit screen, push the Menu button again, among the options is a button called Split. Push it.

I tried to re-merge a split contact and ran into problems selecting a contact to merge with the one I was currently editing. If anybody figures that one out, let us know.

I am using Android 2.0 on a Motorola Droid.

Tried to do this and it deleted all my contacts within the same name except one !!!! Tried it twice and it happened twice. It didn't separate them.

I wouldn't have expected that since I ended up with two contacts as you would expect after a Split. I am using Android 2.0 if that makes any difference. I should have stated that before as it may have made a difference.

Me too - except I think the option was separate.

Wish I realized what was happening - messed around with syncing, no syncing , deleteing etc !!

The split worked for me. I had two contacts with the same name (father and son), but now that I've split them neither facebook accounts are matching up. Where as when the accounts originally merged it displayed both facebook accounts in the one merged contact.
