major calendar flaw... Am I doing something wrong?

I am experiencing 2 major flaws with the HTC phone calendar NOT google calendar and am wondering am I missing something...

1) Again, on the stock phone calendar itself, when I set an event with a start date of lets say today until aug 9th and I select once a week, it shows that event everyday and indefinitely so in other words it doesn't end on Aug 9th. It keeps going and going...

2) Is there not an option to set 2 days every week. I used to have it on my palm pre and it worked flawlessly. For instance, I have classes on mon and wed but I can't find an option to set it for both those days.

Are these known issues and something froyo can remedy or am I pretty much S.O.L.?

Thanks for all your help,

B

1) need more info on what you are trying to do.. If you are putting today as a start day and Aug 9 as an end date on the Event then it will show on everyday in between. If you are setting an event for every Tuesday until Aug 9 you would set an event for the times it lasts for today and then set once per week (Weekly). Then it will show up on every Tuesday until you remove it.
2) just like above you would set a Monday Event for the times of the class and set for once per week (Weekly) and do the same on Wednesday

It's my boy sik! how you been bro? I'm gonna try what you suggested and I'll post back in a sec with my results. Thanks for the immediate response bro

How you loving your evo so far?

Update: It's a no go man! I appreciate your help. Under repetitions I put once a week and it's still showing everyday and indefinitely.

Can you test it on yours bc my boy's is doing the same thing.

Anyone else having this issue?

Are you entering the event into the calendar on the EVO itself? I tried it that way and while it looked like it should do it, it added it to every day. When I went back to the event, I no longer could select the Repetition.

I entered the same kind of event in my Outlook 2007 which syncs to my Google calendar and it is shown properly on the phone. When I open that event, it shows it just being on that one day and under "Repetition" it shows it as "Custom (No customize)". I don't know if entering it directly into the Google calendar would work. I generally enter all my calendar events in Outlook on my computers which are all synced up with each other and the EVO via Google.

I also tried doing a one day event that reocurred every Tuesday and when I went back into it, I could not change the end date until I removed the reocurrence.

The calendar on Android has it's shortcomings for sure. The alerts are the worst part of it but I'm using Calendar Snooze for that.

I think you folks are missing the point. On the EVO calendar, you can specify a repeating event, say every Tuesday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, but you can't specify an end date. The event will repeat forever and there is no way to stop it IF YOU CREATED IT ON THE EVO. I'm pretty sure that's what the OP was asking about.

Of course you can sync the event with Google Calendar, then edit the event in GC to kill it after a certain date, then resync with the EVO. Or, just create the event in Google Calendar in the first place. Either one will have the desired outcome. But, it seems ridiculous, totally crazy, that something we had on Palm Pilots 10 years ago (create repeating events with an end date on the handheld device) is absent from Android calendars.

And yeah there's no way to create Tuesday and Thursday repeating events on the EVO either. You have to create 2 separate events, one for Tuesdays and one for Thursdays, or again create it in Google Calendar.

bobo you hit the nail on the head! I appreciate everyone's input and suggestions however this issue is something with android as a whole which I don't understand how this is not remedied asap.

Exactly what bobo said rings true... Our palms had this years ago so why not on android. It is very frustrating bc I use my GC for work and I use my HTC phone calendar for social and school but I can't even do something as simple as set an end date... yikes!

Do you guys think froyo will remedy this or am I stuck like chuck? lol

Also, is there any way to change the color of the my calendar events on our evos...

No I got the point. Like I said it works but you have to manually remove the event when you are done with it

Yes it sucks that calendar functions in Android are pretty basic and it doesn't make sense that you can do things in a Google calendar that you can't do in Google's Android Calendar. The weird part of course is that you can do things in a Google calendar that then work on Android. I haven't heard that 2.2 will address any calendar functions.

At least there are some workarounds. Obviously not ideal for everyone.
