Does anyone feel the apps for Android are trash!

Pretty VAGUE statement you are making there. How about a specific list of those apps. you think are trash.

I have deleted 1 or two that I have had no use for. The others all work as advertised! Maybe it might be a case of those apps not quite meeting expectations of yours.

I use and have no problems with:

Google Maps
Where
iMusic
Task Manager
Shop Savvy
Picsay
Air Attack
Funny Jokes
Air Hockey
Poke a Mole
Fishin' 2 Go
Google Sky Maps
Movies
E-Buddy
Astro File Manager
Color flashlight
Bubble
RingDroid
Backgrounds

and a few more.

Every single one of those are great apps and considering the price paid?!?! I'd say unbelievable! Considering the WinMo phone I just threw in the trash... I am light years a head with the Hero!

edited to answer your question...
I have not owned an iPhone, but on cost consideration, between hardware cost and plan pricing coupled with apps, overall, I would say YES, I am better off than with an iPhone.

Regards,
:)

Well the movies app has a known bug and has to be reinstalled each time after a soft reset.
GDOCs is another app that i use daily but has to be reinstalled after a soft reset. oh yea and nimbuzz and my converter app have the same problem.
with Winmo i never had to reinstall after a soft reset.
all the hate on winmo is plain ignorance. and to the OP yes i feel that 98% of the apps are trash. the games are a joke unlike winmo. no free document editor?? the only reason im sticking with the hero is for multiple calender support but as soon as a decent winmo device gets released im out.

I agree with cooolone2 statement. Pretty VAGUE statement you are making there t1. I personnally do not have an Iphone, one of my family members does and when compared both of our phones and their marketplaces, she claims that alot of their apps also aren't great (I think most are) but its subjective. The same for the Android apps. Its all subjective. What one might find useful another might find it lacking, or taking up too much space etc etc.
Shoot even with win-mobile phones and their applications, alot of them promise but do not deliver. Still I find android apps are better executed and are cheaper if not free.

cheaper yes but that is because the apps dont do anything. lok at dataviz's document app. it costs the same on android as it does on winmo. all the $2 apps on the market have basically the same functionality as the paid ones. why? because they are simple and take little effort to create. the more detailed apps cost the same on all OS's.

To what ignorance do you refer? You must know this ignorance well then for you know NOT what you speak! Windows mobile is a joke, I lived with it long enough. No crashes, you're correct, it would just lock the entire phone up and require a battery pull to reset and return function, multiple times a day. The apps, if you could luckily find them were nothing compared to what's available on the Android platform, very limited indeed. But at least the 3rd party software worked. Any native apps by Windows or Sprint was totally worthless. I had to hack the registry for it to work right, finally after months of hard work I could get through a day without a freeze.
Battery wouldn't last 4 hours if I accesses the web, with a screen half the size of hero. Lastly, the NEVER arriving updates from Microsoft... not ONE! They even announced a plan to provide an app to work on the iPhone while at the same. time abadoning their own junk media player on the winmo platform... IGNORANT? Yes, Microsoft is... FORMER WINMO users now on other platforms are not. Sorry... I would advise honestly to stay away from it, but to each - his own!

P.S. - this is the condensed version... :)

microsoft office is standard on windows mobile. i have never had to pay for outlook, powerpoint, adobe acrobat, word... these are standard as im sure you know.. why did/would you pay for dataviz for windows mobile? for the BB yes but for ppc?

android have only a handfull of good apps, other than that, the rest are cheesy. The iphone has some cheesy apps too, but it also has alot more good apps than android. And androids GAMES SUCK!!!!! The ONLY good one i found is speed forge. Iphones games blows it away.
LTZguy, thank you for telling the truth. Like I said, there are good ones. But over all they are cheezy! Everytime I read comments on a app its usually bad comments. And I find myself uninstalling apps all the time. Im happy with my phone. I just wanted to know what everybody thought about the apps in the Market Place. And im not going to name all the apps I tried you must be crazy!

It must have been your phone.. i paid top dollar for all of my phones they were not re-branded any us carriers. the us branded version load teh phone up with a lot of crap that make the phone worthless unless you flash a rom. like you said to each his own but i can run own a list of tons of apps that winmo has and android doesnt. i will list 2 as an example.

LingvoSoft Talking Text Translator English
this is an offline program that my buddies and i use everytime we go to the dominican republic.

slingbox-- i still have the first slingbox ever sold but of course can no longer use it

oh yea and of course TOMTOM which works offline because all the maps are stored on the phone. as you may have rad there is a problem with sprint nav. works great when it works but sometimes the phone needs to be restarted to get it to work and then of course i have to reinstall those programs again.

yes winmo apps arent as easy to find to fools but i have them all and they are all free unless i feel like paying for them.
the list goes on and on so please give it a rest and learn how to use a phone and google search before you complain.

ill add one more in for fun. how about wifi router or even a usb internet connection that doesnt require multiple attempts.
