Is exchange active sync push mail in this 2.2 update?
Yes, it is (though it was there in 2.1 as well). I've been using it successfully in stock 2.1 and the two 2.2 ROMs I've tried.
I was going to do it but then i got sude tracked. Can we un root though, as the last thing I need is my warranty going

Yes, you can. There's a guide at theunlockr.com

i email htc yesterday about getting the android 2.2 and this was there reply.

"Regarding your enquiry about Android 2.2: We cannot comment on what devices may or may not get an update just yet. Any announcements will be made through our Website, Facebook page and Twitter feed. Please keep an eye on these channels for any updates regarding your handset."

If anyone has tried out more than one of the 2.2 roms, could you start a new thread with any observations you have made to help people choose a good one? XDA developers now has a pile of new ones to try but the threads are all hundreds and hundreds of posts long. Are the differences just a couple of apps and wallpapers or are there significant differences that improve speed/battery life? Anyone know?

Rooted mine yesterday running LeeDrOiD_V1.4b froyo 2.2 and It's fantastic quicker and battery life is far better wish i had done it weeks ago..... !! Those in doubt dont be dead easy took me 5 mins I did not need a gold card as it was unbranded..

Where did you get that from and was yours already rooted to allow you to do this ? Im a big fraidy cat when it comes to this, in case I brick my phone, but would love to do it

A great idea and seconded, if anyone is up for it, each person would only put one post in the thread with the rom they used and the list of the benefits from it and no one would be allowed to discuss in the thread, if that persons particular suggestion etc works for you, then you thank the person only, that would keep the size of the thread down and allow people to easily read and find what they want to choose.

Would the mods be able to prune this for those that comment in the thread ??????????

Nah I rooted it man unbranded so simple to do no gold card needed, didnt use the one click method as I heard it makes changing roms not as simple as it is for me... once rooted I had some 2.1 rom then moved to what i have now, updated via rom manager (from the market)

Sorry, I know this thread started out talking about FroYo and not rooting/custom ROMS but I guess as we're talking about 2.2 ROMS it's still on-topic...

I rooted my HTC Desire using unrevoked the other day (amazing how simple it is compared to some of the rooting methods I've read up on) and have installed ROM Manager. I've flashed the clockworkmod recovery and done a full backup of the current ROM in ROM Manager and backed up my apps & settings using Titanium.

So... can I now just go to 'Download ROM' in ROM Manager (I have the paid version), select a ROM and install it? Or is there more to it than that? And if that's all there is to it, I guess I can flash back to my current ROM using the backup from within ROM Manager too right?

Also, are there extra steps I need to do to get Apps2SD (the main reason I rooted the phone in the first place!) or will that all happen automatically when I install a new ROM in ROM Manager?

Because mine is un-branded does that mean i wont be able to install the new software like you mention?

No download the rom of your choice then drop it to root of SD then goto install rom from sd card within rom manager...

No it means you will be the first to get it as it needs no network branding..

Guys, I'm rooting tomorrow and getting 2.2 with sense. Now I know all this was already discussed in detail, but I would like a compilation of answers, as I am a bit insecure about all this.

1. If I root and put the custom rom, when the official update arrives, will I be able to put that official version instead of the current custom rom version?

2. What is considered to be the best froyo+sense rom out there?

3. Does anyone know if Shazam which now has unlimited tagging because I had a previous version installed will "remember" my licence (via my google account) after a reflash and a reinstall?

I would really appreciate some answers. Thanks!
