How to add a password for locking Phone?

I've read somewhere on these forums over the past three days that a gesture can be used as a password for locking and unlocking the phone. Where do I fiind docs for this as I can't find it in the decide settings

Go to SETTINGS then LOCATION AND SECURITY.. See "Set Unlock Pattern"

it has a cute lite demo to show you how to set your unlock 'code'

If you prefer an actual password to the unlock pattern native to the Droid, there are a few apps (I think they are paid) that will give you an updated lock screen with password options.

i have a question in regards to the unlock pattern...
After I have set an unlock patter, do i still have to use this pattern when i have an incoming call? i wouldn't want to muck around with my fancy pattern while i'm driving. (notice: i do practice safe phone and car usage by using an ear piece whilst driving)

No, you don't have to unlock to answer.

I found that the unlock patter is not very secure. A few of my employees in less than 2 seconds have figured out how to unlock my phone by looking at the smudge lines created by unlocking the phone. If you look at the phone in the right angle you can totally see the pattern and unlock the phone. I was able to unlock 3 other phones using this approach. I suggest getting another version of the lock if you want a secure phone. Pattern security = fail...

Lock, wipe. That's what I do.

Theoretically if you use a numbered code they can do this too by looking at the smudges. The way I used to get around this with PatternLock on my Blackberry was to make the patterns go backwards and reroute and such.
