I have been using WM sinc I had my first PPC, an Ipaq, then I got converged and have been on WM up until I dumped my Touch Pro for the EVO.

I think I have most things figured out, one naggin issue is:

When I plug in my phone it says "New Email", this is of course the notification I have set up for my new mail. any ideas how to change it to a typical connection tone or are they the same?

So far as I use it more and more I like, it, soft Keyboard is a PITA, dont like the mail app much, liked K-9 even less. I might push my POP mail to to my Gmail account to get some of those benefits I guess. the touch screen is too sensitive, or I am too warm. No way to easliy copy and paste, no html in my emails, no control functions on the keyboard, they could have added another line for numbers at the top on the qwerty. Oh, and the earpiece is sort of sharp! Weird.

Other stuff too, but all in all I was ready for a change, the Touch Pro even with all the Hacks, tricks and a Great ROM was still a Pain to have to depend on.

If the POP email access is anything like exchange, you're stuck with it...not to worry though, it has been fixed in 2.2, you will have the ability to assign a notification sound to your email account

Long press on the text fields to copy and paste. Gmail integrates with this phone like no other...I'm sure that was done on purpose, I have no HTML in my Exchange Mail...slightly annoying, but I can deal. It's not that the screen is too sensitive, you're just used to a resistive touch screen, this one is capacitive and requires only a light touch. Calibrate your keyboard (menu-> settings-> language and keyboard-> Touch Input-> Text Input-> Calibration tool) you will find the Virtual keyboard to be a little more accurate afterwards. As far as the earpiece is concerned, I put a case on mine before it left the Sprint Store, so that has never been an issue.

You have made a good choice. I have been a WinMo user on and off since 2003, most recently a TP2, I used it for 3 days before going back to an android device.

Hope some of this helps :)

Welcome I too had several ipaqs to be honest if you had the H4700 series iPaq the EVO isn't much better. :) It just has a phone built in, but I do love the EVO.

It's just a shame that it's taken so long to get here. I think HP was ahead of it's time when they came out with the first iPaq phone. Oh well at least we're here now.

Still can't wait to give WP7 a shot later this year. I sure hope MSFT doesn’t screw it up.

How do I load 2.2? It just seems strange to me that the notification for my email and the the one for when you plug the phone into the USB for syn and it connects would be the same. I ca customize everything else.

Does the phone display "new email" or are you saying its the same sound?

Because the sound is what is static right now, there is only one "notification" sound but if the screen is displaying New Email then your accounts might not properly be syncing until the phone is taken out of sleep (when plugged in).

Yeah I forget the Ipaq I had, I think I still have it somewhere. maybe it was the 3800 series I think. I might jump back off of Droid, if WM7 is anything like what it needs to be. Still waiting for someone to make the ultimate phone: Hard keys and double line LCD on the outside, flip it open and touch screen and hard keyboard inside.

On the notifications, sorry, it is the audible "ringtone" I have set that it seems to apply for both. I have different ring tones for calls, sms, alarm etc. I could see email and sms being the same, but why connection and email?

Its something google broke in 2.1 that they apparently fixed in 2.2. You used to be able to assign different tones to different forms of notification but not currently.

Right now there is no official channel for 2.2. HTC has to test their applications and Sprint has to agree to push it. Once that happens you can have 2.2. The other option is to root it and load a custom rom, which isnt for the technologically unsavy.
