every now and then, i notice the task bar goes into the hidden mode. i will see it and then it will goes up and disappear. like in auto hide in window if you will.

i look thru all settings and i don't see any where you can remotely set it. the only way to get around to it is to power off and on the phone.

has anyone encountered this behavior?

Yeah, I've encountered this before. It usually happens (to me) when I do an up-swipe on the homescreen. If I do another up-swipe, the taskbar will come back. I actually keep it hidden since I think it makes the homescreens look better without it but that's just my opinion. Anyway, I hope this helps!

By the way, are you using a launcher program other than the stock one? I use ADW.Launcher when this behaviour first occurred. I don't think it does it (at least not by the way I mentioned) with the stock homescreen, which is why I ask.

yes i am using the ADW launcher. i wonder if there is an option for the hidden task bar. you are absolutely correct in that when you do an up swipe, it disappears and another up swipe brings it back. now that i do this little trick, i kind of like it because the screen looks cleaner.
i wonder if there is a setting in ADW for this.

thank you very much for the tip. i thought it was a bug...

Press the settings button-adwsettings-system presences and then you can change what the up swype setting is and what the down swype setting is.

Infact if you you look around in the adwsettings you will find you can tweak almost every part of the system and even save your settings and what apps and widgets you have on the desktop and their location.

This is great if you like to root and have to re root due to being an idiot, or after an update as you just reinstall the app and it will find its saved folder on the memory card :)

hi - I wasnt sure if I should make a new thread as this one is quite old
I have the same problem but I use the stock launcher
I dont see how this can be anything but a bug as I have to switch off my phone completely for the taskbar to appear again
Also i do notice that it disappears when i linger to long in swiping it, but i cant retrieve it by swiping in any way :(

hope its not too late for help!

If you upgraded to 2.3, then you did not complete the process properly.

After you upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 you are recommended to do a factory reset. Most people didn't and it will cause problems like the one you are describing.

Your phone shouldn't be doing what it is doing.

If you want to fix it, you can either install another launcher to see if it overwrites the issue, or you can do a backup and factory reset.
