Help Transferring/Saving apps

download appbrain and sync you app to that then when you get the new phone you can sync ur phone

I use MyBackup Pro by Rerware. It backs up all the apk's to your sdcard so you can copy it onto your computer, then just use the program to restore all the programs. This is how I still have the old Beautiful Widgets with the HTC flip clock.

root + titanium backup

These all sound like valid methods. Here's the way I'm understanding it:

  • Appbrain is great b/c you can access your apps you save from any computer with an internet connection, or on your phone if you aren't near your computer.
  • MyBackup Pro is great b/c you don't have a physical copy of all your apps that you could toss onto a jump drive and you don't have to rely on an internet connection.
  • Titanium backup I don't know much about, but from what I've heard, it should back up more than just your apps... I don't know as this would be a benefit when you switch to a different phone, but for the same phone it would be great.

^ Is this all correct?

I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't think appbrain would be useful if the app you back up is no longer in the market. You would need the physical apk right? I assume that which is why I still use mybackup pro, but let me know if I'm wrong.

Excellent point, that would make sense. Perhaps having appbrain and MyBackUp Pro running in tandem isn't a bad idea. Safeguards from losing a good app that gets removed from the market but also keeps you up to date (I think?) on the apps that are still in the market and also lets you access your apps from anywhere..... except the ones not in the market anymore... lol

So now who wants to explain the other benefits of Titanium Backup? :)
