My batterie was horible. I would consistantly burn it out in 3 hours. But now I have been on wifi(doesnt turn off when phone is sleep) for the past 6 hours, browsing web and listening to music the whole entire time. I am now the battery has only dropped to bars ( it dropped from 1 baar too two bars down while typing rhis). Awsome!!!!!

It's the same problem I had. Mine was only lasting about 4~8 hours depending on how much I was messing with the phone.
Key word: was.

By default, the Wi-Fi radio shuts down when the screen is off. If you're not running any background data tasks, this will (theoretically) save power. At least that's the idea.

The problem is that if you're in an area with craptastic cell signal, and you're running background data tasks (such as checking mail, news, weather, etc), and you haven't changed your Wi-Fi sleep settings, your battery will drain like crazy.

Your battery will last longer if you're in an area with good coverage, but even then it takes less power for your phone to talk over Wi-Fi than it does over 3G.

The solution is pretty simple. Go to 'Settings' -> 'Wireless and network' -> 'Wi-Fi settings'. Hit the menu button and select 'Advanced'. Hit 'Wi-Fi sleep policy' and select 'Never'.

Since I'm usually in an area with Wi-Fi, I just leave it set to 'Never'. If I ever wander away from Wi-Fi for an extended period, I'll just shut down the radio from the Notification bar.

And now I don't have a problem at all getting my battery to last all day.

Hmm, a little cornfused by what your saying.

Sorry! I Typed That on The Samsung Keyboard in opera mini and I couldn't see what I was writing and correct mistakes. What I am saying is that my battery has gotten a lot better and last longer. Its not just because I keep wifi on. Ive been using 3g also and Im still at about 70% full and it hasnt been on the charger for 12 hours. I have been browsing the web all day on it(On Wifi and 3g) while playing music in the back round and texting and sending and receiving mms.

I'm posting a follow-up to another thread here, but I swapped out to ADW Launcher at 5PM this evening and my battery was at 63%. I've only had light usage since then, but my battery now at 1AM is 47%. This is a HUGE improvement! For instance, last night when I went to sleep, the phone started at 51%. When I got up 3 hours later, it was at 31%. The only difference is last night I was running LauncherPro Beta. Since I've started using ADW, my battery has been better. I'm going to continue to monitor this.

I just run touchwiz. I think the battery just needs to be broken in for a while. I thought I was past my break in period where it would last me 9 hours of heavy use, but now Im amazed. Its going on 14 hours and Im not even down to 60% yet. Had this thing since last Wednesday so it took a while but its getting where I can use it heavy from when I wake up (10am) to when I go to sleep(3am). And it charges WAYYYYYYYY quicker! =)

What I dont get Is if you want to constantly be on WIfi ( which is much faster than 3g and doesnt use your Data ) Why is there even a setting? Is there a benefit to useing the sleep timer other than its supposed to save bat life? Which I dont see, because I thought 3G used more anyways .. Still confused

Im still a believer in the old stand by .. LiIon or not.. Complete charge down, complete charge, complete charge down, then a complete charge up, and you should be good to go.. The battery will break in more , but I like to fully cycle the battery twice..

Ive been leaving it on the charger while I play with it at the house. It has been completely dead twice in the week that I have had it. I think. Im leaving it off the charger all night to see how long my battery will last. I took it off the charger with a full charge at 1:02pm et and it is now 2:42am et. I say that You keep your phone on and rarely let it die. (It worked for me)

I was really disappointed with the battery to start. I have had the phone since Sunday, and slowly but surely the battery's capacity has been getting better and better. I have juice defender running and it seems to have played a role in the battery lasting longer. Its gauge claims it is giving me an extra 67% of time on my charge, but I am skeptical that it is being the effective. Either way, worth the download.

I'm not even using any app to help preserve energy(Although I am using a task killer which could be helping). I think some of the earlier adopters(Got mines last Wednesday) will probably notice better battery by now. Sure you guys will too.
