Whew, took me a long time to catch up on all these threads. I didn't want to post this until I had caught up in case someone had already posted a solution.

For what it's worth, here are my remaining issues:

  1. No way to enter in zip+4 into the zipcode field on contacts
  2. Is there a keyboard that doesn't require 10 presses to type http:// ?
  3. Google Voice volume is way too low, can hardly hear the person unless they almost yell. Confirmed by other users.
  4. Can't view jpg attachments in K-9 email. There's am [Open] button but nothing happens when you press it... it just depresses for a few moments, then comes back up without actually opening the image.
  5. audio/video sync issues when playing videos
  6. I have K-9 set up as my default email app. When I'm in the contacts list, and tap on the email address of someone, the box that pops up only gives me [Gmail] and [Message] as options, but not my default email app.
  7. Is there a way to re-arrange the app icons you've put into a folder?

Help appreciated... thanks. :)

2. I downloaded a couple before I settled on Ultra Keyboard. It costs a couple bucks but I was wanting the long-press capability of adding numbers without having to tab to the number screen, then back to letters to continue. It DOES lag slower than I type, but I just type fast. It's still better than 10 presses for http:// - it's 4 short presses and 3 long presses.

I don't use k9 so can't help ya there.

The keyboard on here does have long-press capability, or at least the Swype keyboard that I'm using does. I was able to type http:// just as you described, with 4 short presses and 3 long presses.

EDIT: It appears it is only the Swype keyboard that supports this, so the answer to the OP's question is yes, there is a keyboard that doesn't require 10 presses. In fact, http:// is in Swype's library, I just tried it, Swyping over h, t, t, p, then j which is also the colon and n which is also the slash, and it gave me http:// .

Why do you need to type "http:" anyways?
Properly prefixing URLs with "http://" allows them to be better picked-up, identified and auto-linked by various clients and so on. And it's "the right thing to do". Besides, there's quite a difference between http://somehost.com and ftp://somehost.com ;)

Anyway, debating the "why" of it is rather besides the point. ;)

Not sure what difference it really makes. I've never used a browser that mistakenly took me to ftp instead of http. "The right thing to do" lol, haven't typed that out of necessity in like 10 years.

On a side note, if you're gonna be an anti-social blank-hole why even go on the forums???
