Hello all you awesome Droid users..

So i got this phone. I love it. but its starting to P*ss me off.
Im new to the android phone thing so bare with me.

Ever since I got this phone theirs been a lot of problems and i cant believe such a good phone is doing this.

1, the damn response time is slow.
2, sliding is choppy
3, applications like to Forceclose A LOT
4, my screen freezez when i unlock to try to read a txt. i try touching the screen, no responce, i try opening the Keyboard, no response.
5, flipping it from Hor to Ver is SLOW.
6, while typing on the vertual keyboard o nboth ways, ALWAYS mispells my words and ALWAYS doesnt catch all my letters when typed.

Compaired to the iPhone. the iPhone WINS with all the stupid probmles with the droid....

the iPhone is smooth and fluent while the Droid is slow and has SO MANY PROBLEMS...

Does anyone have the same problems???/ i mean come on. i love this phone but its pissing me off!!!!!!
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I could have had an iPhone. I picked this one. I have no doubt that there are some things on the iPhone that are better. Some are worse. It just depends on what is most important to you. I haven't experienced the problems you're describing so it could be that you just got one of the lemons.

Was it that way when you first got it? Hard reset it and then if it is sluggish then return it if not carefully monitor it as you add apps and widgets to see what might start slowing it down. Progs like es file explorer have process monitors which may give you some insight to your current config and slowdowns.

I LOVE THE DROID... but I have the same problems as this guy.

I feel like we got lemons or downloaded an app that is messing things up??

Here is an issue I just posted that seems so strange....

------------
This is very strange.

I have a Droid and download many random apps. Many of them run and I kill them often to not have a laggy performance but it still happens quite a bit. I get many random force closes from all kinds of apps. Very annoying and I feel like I am the only one.

Problem:

Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)

Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row)

I have restarted with no luck.

Any ideas? Will go see verizon soon...

I've had mine since before the release, as an employee testing it and I've had ZERO problems with mine. With any phone that comes out there are always going to be people who have nothing but problems, but I think its generally user error. People who either expect them to do too much and dont remember they're just a computer or people who've never had an advanced device before and think they're flawless and are never going to have a single issues. Hearing Verizon Wireless complaints from customers, 90% of the customers who call in for Device warranty exchanges on a daily basis fall into those categories. "Whys my phone slow" duh.. you've only got 2MB of memory left, you never empty your cache, never reboot your phone like you would a computer (which is what this advanced device really is) so why do you think its not working 100%. These aren't power on and go cellphones, they're mini computers that have to be maintained, taken care of and used like a computer.

Warrior-

I completely know what you mean. BUT
Im a IT student and I know a lot about electronics and technology. we both do.
Yea i have restarted it, reboot and all that fun stuff but still...its slow.
As for the user errors...I use advanced things all the time.
This phone is easy to use but i truely believe its a lemon.

Yea these phones arent quick start and go phones but this one is giving me problems.

So how often are we supposed to power cycle our Droids? I haven't turned mine off since I got it on November 6th, and have ZERO issues with it. I guess as a computer it's doing pretty well :D

I haven't had any of these problems either. I seem to have Wifi issues, but everything else so far has been resolved by learning how to use the thing properly.

I've got a lot of co-workers with iPhones. The first thing they always say when I show the browsing and navigation is: "Wow! That's fast!"

I'm willing to bet the first issue is downloading apps that are not compatible with the Droid. Just because the app is in the market does not mean that it works with Android 2.0 which is on the Droid.

So a hard reset will remove all of the apps. Then you meed to install them and see what happens. Usually best to do this one at a time to sse if the app will cause issues.

yes, this appears to be a common problem and is not user error. it happens to me as well. see:

Issue 4700 - android - Email app "force closes" on Droid (2.0) - Project Hosting on Google Code

star it and add comments to raise its profile. for now, the only workaround is to get another email application (K-9 mail is free and pretty nice). getting a new phone or factory resetting will probably not help you.

that being said, i think if you want the Droid interface to be as smooth and slick as the iPhone, then you will be disappointed. HOWEVER, the fact that menus are jerky/stutter does not impact the usability of the device at all for me. i can still switch desktops very quickly...who cares if there are 5 frames of animation instead of 20? i would be nicer if they were smooth, but it's certainly not a deal breaker (for me, anyway).

the thing i love about the droid is that it's like having a little computer in my pocket. it's not perfect, and i think android 2.0 was rushed out, but i love the freedom i have to install anything or configure it any way i want. i just wish it worked a little better out of the box so i didn't have to add so much stuff.

Hey Robo, thanks for the hard reset info.

As for misspellings did you know that when you use the virtual keyboard it will change the word to what it thinks once you hit space? It throws me off when i type haha and it switches to Bahamas... but you get used to it and just select the haha on the far left after typing it. Hopefully you can add it to a dictionary somewhere too. Looking up on that.

Yea i know. I turned off the auto spelling thing. its was so annoying.
like when I type like.."ppl" it makes like Protaganda.
Or like I type Metro....it wants to type metropolios> SO F*&king annoyting.
Try turning off the auto spelling and dictionary thing. its helps. good luck finding it cuz i dont remember how I did it...
SO many menus and not a lot to choose from. idk
