Who got the update??

I received the update today. I also stopped at Verizon yesterday and talked to them about my problems. He did something so that my phone would pick up the Alltell towers. He said that the silent call and some of my other issues were related to the calls not being picked up properly by the towers. I woke up this am to an update notice on my phone. Unfortunatley, I am not going to know which thing may have helped my phone--the OTA update or what the tech did. I have more signal bars showing tonight.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading this forum for months now but just registered today so that I can post. First of all, I appreciate all of the knowledgeable members of this forum. There is a wealth of information here. You guys are amazing!

Now, of course, I am posting for a reason (problem). I have a 2.1 OTA unrooted Eris. I received the OTA update last night and everything went fine. The problem is that now my notification bar says "Blank SD card SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem." I didn't remove it before installing the update since the email I received from Verizon didn't suggest this.

I know everything is still there because all of my pics show up in the right places and videos in my text messages still run. I really don't want to lose everything on my memory card but don't know what to do.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
did you try a factory reset?

ZOMGWTF!!! I finally got my first ever OTA system update last night! It was weird and amazing! No difference from the OTA and the self-install update! Gonna get to rootin' my Eris asap! IT'S ALL JUST TOO MUCH!!1!

*inserts lawlz*

Seriously tho, I did just get my system update last night and there's really no discernible difference between it and the 2.1 I slapped on it months ago. Looking forward to exoloring the wonderful world of root for sure!

Received the update yesterday. I did notice it now is responding better to my location (and icon for day and night etc. ) when driving from city to city as far as the weather goes. Sometimes at night it used to show the sunshine icon and take minutes to get it right, also sometimes it showed the next city over.

I have my Location on 911 only to save on battery unless using Google Maps, then of course you must turn it on to "location". Have no idea if this was an improvement or a coincidence.

It also did a factory reset automatically.

So I just drove to a town about 7 miles away and all the time I was there it did not change so I guess that blows that theory.

I could not wait any longer for the OTA update: the phone was useless with the constant silent bug issue.
So I have downloaded the update file couple of days ago and manually installed it.

I did NOT do factory reset afrerward.

I have not have any sign of the silent call issue ever since

Yippie.

:)

It was yesterday or maybe day before?

Info on my phone:

Firmware: 2.1
Baseband version: 2.42.01.04.27
Build number: 2.37.605.4 CL185970 release-keys
Software number: 2.37.605.4
PRL version: 51831
ERI version: 5

Dialing ##778, I get following info in view mode/display:
Life Counter: 599

PRI version: 2.11_002
Manufacturer's Date: 10/22/2009
Activation Date: no data
Warranty Date Code: 7/12/2009 17:43
(Saw on another thread this is supposed to the the "one year" date for manufacture warranty - that's rich, since this is months PRIOR to it even being built!)

PROBLEM TRACKING:
Before any updates (when I got phone til that first update):
:D No problems at all, I loved it, adored it.

After first update:
:( Camera focus sucked air
:( Screen goes blank after making/getting call - then all buttons and screen freeze so I can't end call; must wait for other person to hang up.
:( Occasionally too slow to respond when answering, so I missed calls.
:( Sometimes wouldn't ring, so I totally missed a call - but could call back shortly after, sometimes immediately.

After this update:
 Camera focus sucks worse, if that were even possible.
 Screen STILL goes blank after making/getting call. It is marginally better in that if I put it far away from my body, holding it like it were a dead rat, it will take about 30-60 seconds for the screen to "wake up" and buttons to function allowing me to end call. Good for when I am leaving a message - otherwise the other person has typically hung up by then.
 VERY first call, I got the silent treatment. I NEVER had this problem until the most recent update. Yeah, can you hear me now??? NO, apparently not. Twits.
 Hard reset did not work the "recommended way". Am currently in process of doing it the "privacy route" way.
 I'm pissed beyond belief. I've been with them for years. My DH's company has a corporate discount program thingy with them - and their HR department goes all activist if you have some issue with one of their participants. I'll raise uproar there if VW can't handle it quickly on their own.

OH - No rooting (not yet technically savvy enough, although I get practically certified if that's what it takes to fix the POS - which is almost blasphemous saying, since I used to be in love with it).
