This morning when I accidentally turned on then off again the Airplane Mode my phone came up with the SIM card error & had no reception whatsoever. I've tried all the turn the phone off, then on & battery out things etc, even a hard reset but still nothing. I've called Orange & the technical guy called me back but we didn't get anywhere then he said he'd have a word with his technical technical team & call me back.....I'm still waiting. He did say its more than likely a Android glitch. Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem??

I don't have Orange Phone Insurance & have had the phone 2 months I hope they'll fix it for free...fingers crossed.

The phones are covered by orange for 6 months, if you ever get a charger go duff they are not covered at all as i found out.

I had that argument with orange on my old renoir, but they wouldn't have none of it.
The charger went pop & it was only 3 months old

Trading standards. Orange aren't above the law.

O2 are finding this out with the iPhone 4 signal issue and refusing to let people return them, despite what apple have said on returns. When people complain to ts, o2 suddenly offer to end the contract without penalty

Ask for a.new SIM, should be able to get one instore.

They do go faulty. ;)

They do yes. I've tried the SIM in my old phone & it works fine so I'm assuming it isn't that.
Just had the guy from Orange call me back after hours & hours only for him to tell me to reset it, which I had already done this morning before I called them. Didn't work. He's gonna get back to me again.

Phew,at least it sounds like I won't have to pay for a repair or new one. Thanks guys.

Sounds like your phone has been locked out.

Had similar problem 5-6 months ago, when I bought a Nokia x6 from Ebay. After two weeks, Got no signal, couldn't make any calls.

Contacted the seller and, a day later he came back to me an told me that it was reported stolen or lost and was then locked.

At the end, I sent the phone back to him and got a full refund.

Hope that helps.

Almost certainly the sim. My wife had exactly the same prob on her brand new wildfire. Sent the first one back as HTC reckoned DOA but its replacement was the same ! A bit of applied thinking led me to the village shop for a Virgin pay and go card and the phone has worked faultlessly ever since. Her new sim is in the post, the old one was at least 5 years old, worked in any other ordinary phone but I guess smartphones are more choosy ! HTH

Di you have another orange SIM you could try? A mates, partner?

Yes, I've tried other people's perfectly fine SIMs in the phone & its still showing no SIM. I've tried my SIM in their phones & it works. It's definitely the phone. From what I can gather it seems to happen most to people on Orange. Perhaps its got something to do with whatever they do when they hack the HTC software to put there own icons & stuff on it I don't know. Still haven't heard back from the 3rd tier of technical support. Should I just phone up & ask for a new one? Not sure how it works, its my 1st contract phone.

Tell them you want it replaced as its no good to you how it is, also complain that it has been a big inconvenience being without service.
Often they will offer you discount on your bill or something

I wish I'd have seen that message before I'd just taken a call from Orange to say that they have ok'd a replacement phone for me to get here tonight. I asked about returning the other one in its box & he said that this one won't come in a box. Then he went on to say obvious things like remove your SIM, memory etc. Then alarm bells rang when he said even the battery & back thing as the phone will be the 'bare bones' If I hadn't have just got up I would have been awake to question why I'm getting just a bit of phone instead of a complete new phone. Is this common practice for replacement phones?
