I hate the size of my Nikon D40, but I LOVE how fast I can click photos. No matter what I am shooting I always focus and then fire off 3 or 4 rapid shots. So that I can drastically increase my chances of avoiding blinks or blurs or other millisecond mistakes. So yeah, even if it couldn't increase the picture speed, I would settle for a "burst" mode.

hmm... 30fps at 1-to-5secs = 30-to-150 frames to sort through. I think you are on the right track with utilizing the video software though...

Maybe if it was set to run for 2 secs and capture each 15th frame so that it would essentially create a burst of 4 that hit every half second. Then it pops up all four on the screen in a grid style through which you can pinch to zoom on each and then double tap to choose the one that you like I think we are on to something!

There you go - an fps entry widget and a time-to-run entry widget.

You could even go the other way - set up for .005 fps, say, for four hours - and have a little time-lapse photo movie, automagically.

How you like them apples?

(PS - Sure, 30 fps is a lot of frames - but who never wanted a fast motor drive on their 35? )

What if it had an attachable keyboard?

I know it couldn't be a slideout on the back or anything... but what if...

The phone came with a 2-3mm thick rubberized plastic keyboard mat that could be overlayed on the bottom screen when the phone is flipped open "bookstyle"? It would have small suction cups on the bottom side (or clips around the edges) to hold it in place. Each key would be designed with a little 'give' so that it would press in like a normal physical keyboard, and under each key would be a capacitive contact point. These contact points would then work with the screen underneath the keyboard to type... It essentially turns the regular screen keyboard into a physical keyboard.

The keys on the keyboard mat could have translucent letters to allow the light from the screen to pass through... or they could be completely clear and the keyboard letters could just be on the screen and visible through the keyboard (not a big fan of the second option though).

Of course, the phone's hinges would have to be structured in a way that they would be expandable to allow the phone to close while the keyboard was still attached/sandwiched in the middle.

And last but not least... I have no idea how to accomplish this with a rear-camera and a kickstand... but what if there were a way to store this removable keyboard mat under the battery cover? That way you would always have it with you if you wanted to use it... but more importantly, those people that use it regularly would always have an easy place to stash it when they wanted to use the book-style for strictly browsing purposes.

This would satisfy everyone that would want a phone with OR without a physical keyboard. BOOM! Market Cornered!

Edit: a little change in the design... maybe if the phone's width were permanently increased by 2-3mm, and the lower book-style screen's edge was beveled/sunken in an ergonomical way, a keyboard mat could sit down inside it and have an easier time securing. It would also eliminate the need to expanding hinges.

HTC hasn't really been much on a second version of a phone, so the successor probably wont be the Evo2. However, I would think by next spring rumors of the replacement will be in full swing. Smartphones have a pretty short lifespan, when it comes to being marketable. What's hot today, isn't so much so a few months later.

A prime example, although not a HTC phone, is the Droid. The Droid 2 is its replacement around 9 months after its introduction.
