DInc falls off bike going 40mph

So I decided to take my phone with me on a bike ride, for both music and in case something goes wrong. I wore a tri jersey, which has smaller pockets than a traditional cycling jersey, that i thought my Dinc fit snugly into. I was wrong.

Going down a hill, probably around 35-40mph, i tucked down and i feel it starting to slip and my music cut off; i truly felt my heart jump up my throat, sure enough when i checked my pocket, no more Dinc. as i walked up the hill, all i was thinking about was the horror stories of how people dropped there phones from there pockets and shattered/ the screens. sure enough, there my phone was, in the middle of the asphalt road, face down. as i picked it up and turned it around, i fully expected to see my beautiful AMOLED screen destroyed.

the screen looked perfectly fine. the only physical damage was a scuff on the verizon silicon case on the upper right corner. i restarted it just to be sure, and everything works flawlessly, been 3 days now. just thought i'd share my lucky story with some people that might actually appreciate it!

^^ haha its gotta be double or nothing. 80mph

i think its all based on luck. i remember when the iphone first came out. im talking about the 3, and everyone said it was invincible, all the reviews showed people dropping them down stairs and what not. my friend dropped his from the couch on tiles and the screen shattered.

Here is my story...

So last week I was playing tennis with my brother in the 90 degree weather with 70% humidity so I was very sweaty to say the least. I had my incredible with me and was taking great care to keep it dry and safe. I don't have a case on it since I was just going to return it for an X but anyways...I get to my car and set my phone on the roof while Im taking my shirt off. I jump in the car and drive home and go around a sharp corner in the parking lot.

After I get home Im wondering where my phone is since I usually have it in one spot and my heart sinks when i realized what I did. So i race back to see the damage and have a tough time finding my phone at first. I get out and find the battery and cover fairly close to each other but the phone is still missing, which is the part im worried about the most. I back my car up a couple feet and realize it was 6 inches away from my tire laying face down on the pavement. I turn it over only to find the glass is fine! All 4 corners are dinged up and the back has a couple scratches as does the screen. But looking at it from a couple feet away you couldn't even tell.

I ran to tell my brother what happened and somehow the phone made it alive dropping 4 feet to the ground off my car at 25 mph...I guess i got very lucky!

I am glad YOU are all right going down a hill at 40 mph. Anything after 30 mph starts to get a bit scary for me. I have been unsuccessfully looking for a good bike mount for the phone but still can't find one.

When I bike I put mine in my saddle bag and start up My Tracks to track my whole ride. I guess it would be kind of hard to listen to music with it in there though...

im with this guy. i just went out today for 30 miles, put my phone in my saddle bag with my credit cards, bike tools, tube, etc, turned on MapMyRide, and zipped it up

i have an ipod nano i prefer to use. easier to cary in my pocket since its so light (16gb, the new one with the camera...5th gen?)

i bet though, you could probably still use it for music, as long as your headphone cord is long enough. i had a 6' length on my old Koss earbuds. downside is you wouldnt really be able to change songs/volume/etc without getting it out of the bag.

I use this holder and mount from Ram Mounts to hold my Dinc on my motorcycle to use as a GPS and to listen to Slacker while riding.

Ram Mounts

It's a bit too tall for the Dinc so I had to replace the top and bottom brackets with some of the side brackets as the side brackets reach further into the holder. But it comes with 3 sets of side brackets in different sizes so that's not a problem. Once I did that it holds the Dinc very securely. If I had a sudden stop or impact I would probably come off the bike before the Dinc came out of the holder.

Dude, your link didn't work for me. It took me to a screen asking me for a part number or something...

Hmm, you are right. Sorry about that. Try this one:

Part Details

If that doesn't work it's Ram part number: RAM-B-149Z-UN4U, Rail Mount Universal Finger Grip Holder. I bought my off of Ebay, I think it was around $45. That part number includes both the holder and the mount but you can also buy them separately. The holder is RAM-HOL-UN4U while the mount is RAM-B-149ZU.
