If you are using GV with your Friends & Family account for free outgoing calls, don't upgrade to the version that's in the market now. It will assign an individual new number to each of your contacts, so you won't be able to do the free calling trick.

Edit: Added version 0.3.2 in case you already updated on accident.

Edit 2: looks like Sed has 0.3.4 in post #8 below.

I found the older apk, but I'm not sure I have the latest one right before the update. Mine is 0.3.2. Anyone have a newer one? The newest one was .04.something. (The one in OTD's link is 0.3.0.)

I just checked my current version and Build Number is 0.3.4 (#14). The outgoing using the Google access number (set up in F&F) works great for routing outgoing calls that don't use peak minutes.

Where dio you get those version numbers starting with 0.** ?

You'll see the bridging number right when you dial. Your own google number will still show up to the other person like before.

You have to go to the Google Voice app and then press Menu -> Settings. Scroll down and you'll see the version number.

I don't think it would matter either way for you since you're not setting a Google Voice number as one of your Friends & Family.

03.2 seems to be the link they are suggesting you don't update from. I went to settings>applications>manage apps>google voice>uninstall

Then I installed the 03.2 file. I had just done a clean wipe of my phone after the latest update and quite a few of my apps had to get updated.....not super happy with all the commercials/ads and such with most apps, but at least they are still free

I've only just downloaded and installed Google Voice today and was disappointed to find out afterwards that the service is unavailable in the UK. You have to wonder why Google give the option of sending a text link to the download to UK mobiles if we can't use it. Anybody heard when (or whether) this service will be available in the UK?

Ditto... I only use GV for text messaging. I don't see the point in using it for phone calls when I pretty much only use my cell phone and most of my contacts are on Verizon already. Free mobile to mobile...

Did you try to open it with Astro File Manager (free from the Market)? That's what I use. A window pops up and you choose "open with application manager"

I got tired of the old one. I'll probably get tired of this one pretty soon too (this one was a transparency test in photoshop, lol).

I think my Google Voice number not working for about a month and a half in my state is a bit more pressing than a forum avatar though.

Hate to bring this back up, but I still have 0.3.4 and lately it SUCKS! I open the app, it displays itself for a quick moment and then I see a black screen for a few seconds then reappears, only to tell me to force close.

I've been avoiding updating it, is it safe to do so now? Is the most recent update still laggy?

I've been reading the comments regarding the newer updates and they seem to all be laggy. Plus, you definitely lose the F&F benefits.

AMaybe there's a problem with one of your other apps. I haven't had any problems with 0.3.4 except that swype is pretty laggy on there, and I have switched to a hacked stock keyboard instead.
