who's interested in the new MeeGo OS by Intel/Nokia ?

The Screenshots to be honest .. looks better than android
I Am actually thinking about transforming OSes .. won't be scared of apps & back up because there is alot of phones coming w/that OS .. so it should be okay
plus the fact that is full linux build .. not based on a kernel AKA more "open" .. and in a test of JavaScript that was made by carrypad.com it was faster than Froyo

What do you guys think ? triple-killer (iAndroid 7) on its way ?

This part confused me. Android is Linux based.

And to be honest, a JavaScript test can't adequately judge the speed of an entire OS platform. All it could mean is that it has a better JavaScript engine than the Android browser.

I am interested to see where this goes though.

.. people say android is based on a linux kernel , while MeeGo is based on the original linux
it's more open than android .. i saw it in maemo.org forums .. and trust me they are experts

All Linux distributions use a Linux kernel. Heck, my router running DD-WRT uses a Linux kernel. That's the backbone of any Linux based OS.

Are you confusing it with it being a more traditional Linux OS? So it can run several types of code like C, whereas Android only gets Java based code? That's the only way I can see it being more open because Android is already very open.

Well that's particularly good for developers, and why they would take a great interest in it. The one bad thing that I can imagine about being an Android developer, is that its only programming language is very Java like, so you need to know it. Whereas, on other OS's, you can use C, C++, Python, Java, etc.

I'm definitely keeping my eye on it. I hope Nokia will be able to boost their presence here in the US as well to push their MeeGo phones.

Between Win 7 mobile, WebOS/HP, and MeeGo, mobile smartphone OS is getting really interesting.

Yes, that's an Android theme. Similar color scheme, similar style. If looks were all you needed, you don't even have to change your handset.

Also, you don't seem to really understand Linux. At all.

yeah sure .. HTC Tatto is better than Samsung Wave .. it's android ^_^
The thing is .. most of people don't give a damn about the OS , so i'd wait for meego

I highly doubt this is going anywhere, This is way to late in the game, Android and Iphone have the market. Nokia should of jumped in along time ago.

If they can make it inexpensive and marketable, it might. Symbian still has a VERY strong hold in the world smartphone marketshare and we all know how old that is. I mean, you can pick up a Nokia E71 for about $250 unlocked without a contract and it has a generous amount of features. Its fairly popular, despite being an older phone.

Its probably good that they are moving to Meego, since Symbian is just not very touchscreen friendly. Great for non-touchscreens though.

It helps to know what you are talking about. You patently don't. I find Meego intriguing, but to tout its looks as the main attraction is herpderpdurrrrr considering it's just a skin (which may not even be what ships with Nokia units; note how you linked to Linux Foundations' website--are you even aware that's not Nokia?). You don't appear to understand the advantages or Meego's functionalities at all. You just sound like an Apple user with your omg-it's-shiny-I-want clueless syndrome.
