I got my Sony ericsson mini pro after a long wait for months..
Here are the few observations i had for the last few days

1) Operating system is older (already aware of it)
2) Many times the screen stops responding. There is no response for button click or there is a delay.
3) The QWERTY keyboard is very hard to press. on screen is better. (So no need to pay Rs 1000/- extra for it. x10 mini is enough)
4) Front panel buttons are hard at ends. You should press on it centre.
5) Unlock button on the head of phone is more embedded and difficult to access.
6) Incoming call photo display is very small. It would have been better if it was full screen.
7) No multi touch
8) There is a delay in zoom activation
9) No video calling.
10) Battery backup is very poor.
11) Voice dialler is crap.
12)scattered file/folders in SDCard. Seems there is no pattern for files being created. Its a big mess.
13)Preloaded applications cannot be removed. The crap demo games will last for ever..!!
14) No option to hide or delete icons from menu..SO it keep on grawing with no of applications.
15) There is no builtin gesture input for text

If you are really addicted to the look/design go for x10 mini and NOT x10 mini pro otherwise wait for a better one.
More details in coming days...
Thanks

murkey, you could always return your phone buddy. I think it's a lovely little phone, and the keyboard is lovely,so much better writing text's/email.

I do agree, about the app's that you can't remove thoe ,that is a pain in the ass.

If you do some tweaking, you can get your battery to last 2 day's without the need for a charge.:D

1) update is coming just wait
2) i'm not sure as i have not experienced this
3) i find the qwerty fine very easy to type on
4) yes the hardware buttons are not ideal as you can't press at the ends but not a huge problem
5) that is done on purpose so the phone doesn't unlock by accident in your pocket or bag
6) i've haven't seen this yet
7) yes no multi touch but this was well known before phone was released
8) happens if the picture is very large or using on the internet as picture/map has to load
9)i haven't tried to video call so don't know
10) battery backup? do you mean battery life then it's not great but switch everything off brightness data 3g wifi bluetooth etc and you will get at least 2 days
11) the voice dialler? what is that
12) i agree with this but the phone does automatically create folders for music etc.
13) this is the worst thing about the phone, but all phones experience this
14) you can do this go to the menu press the settings button the one on the left and click arrange icons and you can remove icons as you please
15) i don't know what you mean

i love the phone but i can see you are not too keen on it
also is it possible you have a faulty phone?

agree on 13), but I just moved all the crap apps to the screen on the far right (6-7th?). the ones I use like youtube, roadsync, settings etc moved to the first/second screens. that solved it for me!

the glitches- touch screen freezes, wireless dies, gps doesn't work, unfriendly message/phonebook app, videos don't show the first 2 seconds, hard to hang up (cause screen goes blank) etc. hope 2.1 cures these..

but overall for 300USD it's a great phone. not ugly like BB, not iphone copy, not ubiquitous iphone. dropped it twice and still working fine.

I totally agree. Before this phone I had an Xperia X1.

The unlock button on the X1 is easily pressed when putting your phone in a pocket or bag. You had to take it out again to check then put it back in and it would turn on, calling people and draining the battery.

I'm Very glad SE took this decision.

thanks rosered for the advice. however pressing the power button is the same as pressing the menu button on the left- it just brings the screen up and then i have to hang up via touch screen. maybe this is how touch screen phones go, but when I finish the conversation I'd like to put away my phone in my pocket while pressing the hang up button a few times, comfortable the call is terminated. with this set up I have to wait till the screen lights up, and then touch the appropriate corner, and then make sure I've hang up properly. too much hassle for one of the most basic features of a phone (hanging up!!)..

Well, I just use this phone for a couple month, but i think its good phone if you know how to make it better

1) well, they said we'll get the firmware update this month anyway (aamin)

13) me, I rooted my phone with 'Universal Androot' (it'll root your phone in just one click) and use 'Titanium Backup' to uninstall it

14) I'm using ADW launcher, it's simply better

You can update the OS thru PC Companion although downloading the Software Updater from the SE website worked better for me.

After i have updated my OS to Eclair, the screen became more responsive.

For annoying preloaded apps, you can always root your phone and delete those, although it voids your warranty.

for battery issues, switch everything off when not in use <bluetooth, GPS, data connection> as mine can last for 2 days.

The mini Pro is a lovely little phone, powerful for it's size.

Maybe you just need to get to know it a little better.:p
